How to find Cheongchuni Oranda inside Dongmun Market

There are lots of public parking lots near Dongmun Market, and the closest one to the shop is Dongmun Public Market Public Parking Lot! (Paid parking)

The shop is inside Jeju Dongmun Market. Of the many market entrances, Gates 2 and 9 will get you there a little faster; if you parked at Dongmun Public Market Public Parking Lot, enter through Gate 12!

As you walk through the market, you’ll soon reach the shop. Tucked farther inside Dongmun Market, it was easy to find naturally while looking around the market. The eye-catching sign and delicious-looking packaged desserts out front had everyone stopping by for a look!

Choose handmade oranda after sampling

The beautifully packaged products on the display shelf immediately caught my eye. If you want to try the delicious-looking handmade oranda but hesitate to buy it straight away,

there are bite-size samples of each variety in the middle of the display. Being able to taste them before buying was so nice—I could try them without worrying, “What if I buy it and it isn’t good?” and choose the flavor I liked best!

From gift boxes to individual packs

Cheongchuni Oranda Dongmun Market Main Branch, Tapdong sells four oranda flavors—yuzu, manong (Jeju garlic), gamtae seaweed, and nuts—along with donut oranda in hallabong, green tea, peanut, carrot chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream, black sesame, yellow cheese, chocolate, and coconut. There are also yuzu gwajeul (traditional rice puff snacks) in steamed-rice, white-rice, brown-rice, and buckwheat versions, plus bulk-style oranda. There were so many interesting ingredients, but after sampling, we bought the four oranda flavors we liked most!

We bought all four flavors: yuzu, manong, gamtae, and nuts. They packed everything neatly into a bag with cute illustrations, which was nice and easy to carry around 😊

Trying the four oranda flavors at our accommodation

Back at our accommodation, we took out the four flavors of oranda we’d bought. They looked incredibly delicious, and they were made so cutely and beautifully that I really recommend them as a different kind of Jeju travel dessert gift.

Overall, the oranda was crisp but not overly hard, with a pleasantly tender chew. The sweetness of jocheong (rice syrup) came through gently, while the nuts and toppings added a savory nuttiness, so it was delicious without the overly sweet, tiresome feeling of some snacks. The gamtae-topped one added gamtae’s distinctive aroma and salty flavor, making it especially good as a sweet-and-salty combination! 👍

Because the oranda is made with Jeju specialties, it definitely felt like a commemorative snack from our Jeju trip. I also thought it was a snack that captures Jeju’s character really well for gifting to family or friends 👍
