Sinchon Korean BBQ group dinner: 600g pork platter at Jjaengbanjip8292

In short

Jjaengbanjip8292 Sinchon is a Korean BBQ restaurant on Yonsei-ro in Sinchon, Seoul, where eight side dishes arrive together on a single tray. The pork platter is 600g for 49,000 won and combines pork belly, pork neck, pork jowl and a special cut on one grill, with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) at 5,000 won on the side; the pork belly is cut thick and each cut chews differently. One platter is just right for two, so larger Sinchon dinner groups should plan on a second order.

Why the side dishes at Jjaengbanjip8292 stand out in Sinchon

The most stressful part of picking a Sinchon BBQ restaurant is worrying about awkwardly asking for side dish refills. At Jjaengbanjip8292 Sinchon, all 8 side dishes come out on the tray from the start, so there's zero need to worry about that.

Pork runs about ₩8,000-something per 100g on average, which is reasonable, and the location works well for group dinners too — I get why it comes up so often as a Sinchon dinner spot.

Inside Jjaengbanjip8292 Sinchon: a casual grill-at-the-table setup

The interior is a typical Korean BBQ setup with round cast-iron brazier tables, and each table has a silver overhead hood, so you can grill without worrying about smoke.

The open seats near the entrance have a street view outside, giving them an airy feel, while the inner seats are a bit quieter. The tables are spaced generously, so it didn't feel cramped even with several people.

The signature pork platter: 600g for 49,000 won

The signature menu item at Jjaengbanjip8292 Sinchon is, hands down, the pork platter. At 600g for ₩49,000, it lets you enjoy four cuts at once — pork belly, pork neck, pork jowl, and a special cut. Rather than ordering each cut separately, you get to try a variety of cuts evenly, and I heard it's especially popular for larger Sinchon dinner groups, so I gave it a try.

First, the side dishes get set up like this.

The side dishes that pair well with the meat show up first.

There was also a nice variety of wrap vegetables prepared, which made eating more fun.

There's a good variety of dipping sauces too. And for anyone who struggles with adjusting the grill, there's a timer set up at each table.

How pork belly, neck, jowl and the special cut compared

The pork belly is sliced thick, so the juiciness really comes through when grilled, and the pork jowl has beautiful marbling that gets more savory the more you chew. The special cut had a strong chewy texture, pairing well as a drinking snack. Being able to taste all four cuts on one plate made ordering easy without any menu agonizing.

I first grilled up the pork belly, pork neck, pork jowl, and kkodeulsal (chewy pork cartilage) together since I wanted to try them all.

You can see how thick the pork belly is — not the thin, lackluster kind, but thick and genuinely tasty.

Rather than just summing it all up as "delicious," what stood out to me was how clearly the texture differed from cut to cut.

Doenjang jjigae for 5,000 won

For ₩5,000, the portion is substantial. The broth had mushrooms, tofu, and a few chunks of meat in it. It wasn't too salty and had a savory broth, good for sipping between bites of meat.

  • The pork platter was just the right amount for two people. If your group is bigger, you'll likely need the platter plus extra menu items.
  • They're open through lunch too, so it's also good for a casual daytime meat meal.
  • Since the side dishes already come on the tray, the spread feels satisfying enough without needing to ask for refills.
