Dolgoji-gil café in Paju: honeycomb fig bingsu at Fruit Forest

Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store is a fruit dessert café at 144 Dolgoji-gil, Paju-si, near Simhaksan mountain. It's open daily 10:00–21:00, with last order at 20:30.

I went on a drive to Paju with some friends and heard there was a famous dessert café near Simhaksan, so we swung by. Here's my review of Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store, known for its bingsu (Korean shaved ice dessert)!

Where is Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store, and how is the parking?

The building itself is clean and pretty large, and right in front there's a generous dedicated parking lot — enough space for about 20 cars, so you can visit without worrying about parking.

Walk through the entrance and up the stairs, and you're greeted by an absolutely massive amount of mangoes.

I think this is the first time I've seen this many mangoes in Korea haha. I figured you'd have to go to a market in the Philippines to see a sight like this!

Various fruits you can buy directly were neatly displayed. They say everything is top-grade produce brought in from the first auction of the day! Beyond mangoes, there's Shine Muscat grapes, blueberries, pineapple, oranges, watermelon — a huge amount of delicious-looking fruit!

Fruit Forest's menu board has a wide range of bingsu — injeolmi (rice cake) red bean bingsu, fresh mango/peach/melon/fig snow ice bingsu, a mix of 10 kinds of fruit bingsu — plus drinks like coffee, misugaru (roasted grain drink), sikhye (sweet rice punch), and fruit juices.

Cinnamon churros, croffles, banana brûlée, mont blanc, cream cheese garlic bread, castella — the bakery dessert lineup is varied enough to satisfy any bread lover 'ㅅ'

The interior has an open, airy feel with sleek design. Between the indoor space and the wide-open outdoor terrace, the store can seat up to 100 people total! For reference, dogs aren't allowed indoors, but they're welcome on the terrace seats!

How does the fig bingsu taste? Honeycomb and figs cut to order

What I ordered was the fig snow bingsu. The snow ice was piled high with fig and blueberries, topped with a big chunk of honeycomb +_+

One of Fruit Forest's biggest strengths is that they don't pre-slice the fruit — they cut the fresh fruit as soon as the order comes in! Thanks to that, the fig's moisture didn't dry out at all, and it kept its freshness and texture > <

Whew... overwhelming visuals. It's not drizzled in syrup — beautifully sliced fresh fig, cut with the grain, covered the top edge to edge without a single gap. Just looking at it, you could feel the little pop of the seeds — perfectly ripe, delicious figs.

Wait, this honeycomb... at those yogurt ice cream places, honeycomb this size would cost a fortune, so having this much piled on here is honestly touching.

First bite: a generous scoop of fig flesh and milk ice! It's not an artificial syrupy sweetness — it's a refined, gentle sweetness coming from the fruit itself. So it never feels heavy!

The fig, ripened just right, had that signature chewy-yet-soft feel plus a little pop in the mouth, which made every bite fun > <

The finely shaved milk ice balanced perfectly with the condensed milk and fig flesh, so it stayed clean and never got tiresome all the way through! And the portion is generous enough that there's plenty of fruit left even in the last bite :-)

Which kind of get-together suits Fruit Forest?

After visiting, I totally understood why this bingsu spot, Fruit Forest, was packed even on a weekday! Because the space is so roomy, it's great not just for families but also for group gatherings or as a dessert second round after a work dinner bb The overall vibe is comfortable, making it easy to chat :-)
