Bangi Station charcoal BBQ in Seoul: pork jowl in hairtail sauce

In short

Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch is a charcoal Korean BBQ restaurant right outside Exit 4 of Bangi Station (Line 5) in Songpa, Seoul. On this return visit, kkodeulsal (chewy pork jowl, 180g 19,000 won) and nunkkot galbi (snowflake short ribs, 200g 25,000 won) were dipped in gulchi sokjeot (fermented hairtail sauce) bubbling on the grill, and Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch also has group rooms and plenty of parking. A second visit that lived up to the first.

There are days when you just crave meat grilled over charcoal, right? 🤔 Today was exactly that kind of day, and after thinking about where to go, I headed back this weekend to Dangsan Odol, a Bangi Station restaurant I have very fond memories of from before.

Revisits often feel less impressive than the first time, but even after being away for a while, this place didn't disappoint at all — it was just as amazing as I remembered. Here's my fresh review.

Where is Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch, and is there parking?

Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch is located at 2-7 Yangjaedaero 71-gil, Songpa-gu, Seoul, right outside Exit 4 of Bangi Station (Line 5). It's open daily 11:30-22:00 (break time Mon-Fri 14:00-16:00), with parking available, reservations available, and group seating.

This Bangi-dong restaurant sits right in front of Exit 4 of Bangi Station, so it's really convenient to reach by public transit. ☺️

On top of that, there's a pretty generous parking area on the inner street in front of the restaurant, so you can bring your car without any parking stress. This whole area is usually congested and hard to park in, with pricey parking fees to boot, so having such convenient parking in the middle of the city is a big plus.

Group rooms for a Bangi-dong company dinner

The interior of Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch has plenty of tables, so you can enjoy your meal without feeling cramped.

There's also a clean, separate group room with its own sliding door, which would be perfect for a work dinner or a family gathering during the holidays.

Side dishes and desserts on the Dangsan Odol menu

Looking at the Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch menu, there were a variety of great side dishes made for pairing with drinks.

From stir-fried baby octopus that practically calls for soju, to pork skin and chicken feet, plus hangover-curing menu items like teolregi sujebi (hand-torn noodle soup) and haejang sulbap (hangover rice), there was plenty to enjoy beyond just the meat — this place looked great for a drink or two. 😊

I ordered kkodeulsal, my all-time favorite that I fell in love with before, along with the nunkkot galbi (snowflake short ribs) I was excited to try. 😊

  • Kkodeulsal (domestic pork) 180g ₩19,000
  • Nunkkot galbi (US beef) 200g ₩25,000

Signature kkodeulsal pork jowl dipped in gulchi sokjeot

The first dish I tried was Dangsan Odol's signature kkodeulsal! It's domestic pork, 180g for ₩19,000.

A plate of the signature domestic kkodeulsal

True to its name, the texture is so chewy and springy! 😭 It has a charm on a completely different level from regular pork specialty cuts. 🤩

The savory flavor that fills your mouth the more you chew is still unforgettable. 🤤

Dip a piece of meat into the gulchi sokjeot (fermented hairtail innard sauce) bubbling away on the grill, with its deep, salty flavor, and the umami just explodes — my chopsticks kept getting busier and busier. 😅

Nunkkot galbi: marbling and the meat close to the bone

Next up was the nunkkot galbi (snowflake short ribs). It's US beef, 200g for ₩25,000, and true to its name, the marbling spreads across the whole cut. 🤭

As soon as it hit the grill, that savory beef aroma spread through the air and got my mouth watering. 😆

The moment you take a bite, the beef's signature tenderness and rich, savory juices spread through your mouth.

And to top it off, there was the fun of picking the crunchy meat right off the bone at the end — the perfect finish. 😆 It reminded me once again that meat is best grilled over charcoal at a proper BBQ restaurant. 😄

The banchan (side dishes) served alongside the meat were clean and well-made, so I was able to enjoy every bite without ever getting tired of it. If you're looking for a Bangi Station BBQ spot with great food, easy parking, and even a private group room, be sure to stop by Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch. 😊
