Gyodong bossam restaurant in Daegu that pours whisky: Uldong Bossam

Today I went to Uldong Bossam, a bossam (boiled pork wrap) spot in Gyodong, Daegu! Clean interior, friendly staff, and delicious bossam — a completely satisfying visit.

Where is Uldong Bossam, and what are its hours and parking?

Uldong Bossam, a Daegu bossam favorite, sits directly across from the front entrance of Daegu City Hall's Dongin Annex. Open daily 11:00-23:00, break time 15:00-16:30, last order 21:30, no parking lot.

There's no dedicated parking lot, but you can park at City Hall or use a nearby public lot! It's not too far from the subway station either. Since it's open until 11pm, it's also good for a late dinner haha.

It had that woody, atmospheric vibe. The interior was so stylish I almost thought it was a café!! Let's go in!!

Inside Uldong Bossam and what is on the menu

Inside, Uldong Bossam was quite spacious and pleasant. There were 4-person tables, 2-person tables, and even a bar table, so it looked good for groups or for eating alone. The place was clean too, which I liked~ The tables were also spaced pretty generously, which felt comfortable.

Plum tea and various whiskies by the entrance! I'd never seen whisky at a bossam restaurant before, so I was curious about the combo. My boyfriend, the drink enthusiast, went wild haha. There's cool plum tea too, so definitely try it!!

You order via the tablet at each table. The menu had a bossam set, a rice bowl set, Uldong Bossam, potato pancake, minari pancake, and boiled pork hot pot. The bossam set even had a large-portion version!! There was also a good drink lineup — makgeolli, whisky, and more.

The small Uldong Bossam: hangjeongsal pork and side dishes

We ordered the medium Uldong Bossam! Various side dishes came out along with a great-looking bossam plate.

You grind the sesame yourself and pour the soy sauce that's on the table.

The side dishes at Uldong Bossam, a Gyodong favorite, are apparently made fresh by hand every day!! That's probably why they were all so delicious. There was quite a variety — yeolmu kimchi (young radish greens kimchi), seasoned bean sprouts, pickled onions, and more! They also came with soy sauce, spicy sauce, and ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste), so you could enjoy it different ways!!

Doesn't the bossam meat look so good?.. It's hangjeongsal (pork neck) on top — my first time having hangjeongsal as boiled pork! It came with minari, onion, chili, and radish kimchi. Even at the medium size, the amount of meat was generous, so satisfying><!!!

The stew that came with it — this was seriously delicious..! My boyfriend was amazed at how good the stew was too. Even the stew being this tasty..!

My boyfriend said we absolutely could not skip makgeolli here;; so we ordered it right away and drank it together~~~ Delicious bossam with makgeolli... great combo...

Wrapped it up nicely into ssam and piled on the minari too! The radish kimchi? was seasoned just right and tasty!! The meat was soft with no gamey smell at all!

How was the shrimp minari pancake?

We also ordered Uldong Bossam's minari pancake and I was surprised by the size! It was huge, with little batter and packed full of minari, which made it even better..! It had shrimp too, and the minari was so fragrant it was just too good..!

Ate the crispy pancake along with the shrimp haha. Next time I have to try the potato pancake too....ha

Is Uldong Bossam in Gyodong worth a visit?

Soft meat with no gamey smell was already a given, and even the side dish minari pancake was delicious, which made it a satisfying visit. The interior was clean and pleasant too — totally recommend it as a lunch spot for nearby office workers!!
