90-min full-body massage at Kozy Foot Shop, a Jeonju massage spa

In short

Kozy Foot Shop is a standalone massage spa on Baekje-daero in Wansan-gu, Jeonju, known for treating Jeonbuk Hyundai soccer players. A 10pm booking got the Kozy Special (90,000 won: 10-minute foot bath, 40 minutes lower body, 40 minutes upper body), including foot massage down to the toe sides and focused shoulder blade work. Prices run much lower than Seoul, making it a great last stop on a Jeonju trip.

I went on a trip to Jeonju and got a massage as my last stop — and I'm strongly recommending this Jeonju massage shop as a great way to end a Jeonju trip!

I picked Kozy Foot Shop for two reasons: 1. it's not a chain, it's a massage shop unique to Jeonju, and 2. it's known as the place where Jeonbuk Hyundai soccer players get treated, so I figured they'd be extra professional and skilled!

Location and parking at Kozy Foot Shop in Jeonju

It's located in Wansan-gu, Jeonju! Right in front of a bus stop!

If you come in the front door there's a study café on the first floor — just take the elevator up to the second floor!

There's plenty of parking behind the building. Just park where you see the big Saemaul Geumgo (a Korean savings bank) logo. It connects to a back door, so it's really convenient!

What's the inside of the shop like?

Entrance and shoe-changing area of Kozy Foot Shop

You change your shoes and wait inside, and while you wait you notice how many celebrities and soccer players have been through — so many autographs.

The inside of the shop is also really pleasant.

I can't even tell how serious they are about massage. So reassuring.

Waiting seats at Kozy Foot Shop before a 10pm booking

I booked for 10pm and arrived a bit early to wait! I got called in right on time. They're open until 1am, seemingly because a lot of people come in late at night!

When I booked in advance, I said I'd take the ₩90,000 Kozy Special (upper and lower body). You can choose between dry massage and aroma. Aroma adds ₩10,000, bringing it to ₩100,000!

Notice stating the service is not for medical treatment purposes

Just so you know, this is massage only, not for medical treatment purposes! But after getting one, I get why people love massages... They said the ideal interval is every 2–3 days if you can manage it, when the muscle soreness fades, or once a week if that's too much.

What's included in the Kozy Special (90-minute upper and lower body care)

  • Foot bath: 10 minutes
  • Lower body: front then back, 40 minutes
  • Upper body: back then front, 40 minutes

That's how it goes! By the way, I'm a woman and a male therapist did my massage. If that makes you uncomfortable, mention it in advance!

Body diagram marking the areas covered by the Kozy Special massage

The areas marked in red are where the massage covers.

Private single massage room

The room is a private single room. The sliding door in the middle can apparently be opened if two people come together! I came alone, but this would be great for a couple's massage in Jeonju too!

Drawer cabinet with massage clothing and personal belongings

You undress at the drawer cabinet and change into massage clothes. It was basically a jjimjilbang (Korean sauna) look. You don't need to take off your underwear at first!

Foot bath, 10 minutes

Warm water basin used for the 10-minute foot bath
Feet soaking during the foot bath, with the room floor visible

You soak your feet in warm water and the therapist comes to wash them! Before the massage they asked if anything felt particularly uncomfortable and said they'd pay extra attention to it.

Lower body, 40 minutes — down to the sides of the toes

First you lie face up and they start with your feet, working the entire area marked red above. I'd never been to a place that massages the sides of your toes before. I realized they can even loosen up between the toes like this.

It felt incredibly good — a kind of relief I'd never felt before... on a totally different level.

When you self-massage your feet, honestly you're just rolling a foam roller or ball on the sole. They also pressed the sides of my feet and it felt amazing times 100. I think they spent almost 20 minutes just on my feet — my own feet, but they got pampered like that. Fatigue just melted away. I realized why there's a limit to what a machine can do and why it matters that a person does this. Looking for a foot massage in Jeonju? Come here.

The 40-minute lower body massage in progress

There was no side-lying position, but they worked all the way down to under my glutes — nowhere went unpressed. When I mentioned there was a clicking sound and discomfort in my pelvis, they immediately grabbed my leg muscles and worked them, and it felt amazing. Tight muscles like my thighs or gluteus medius hurt a lot, but felt so good that I kept going 'stop... no, keep going... hurry up and finish... no, don't finish.'

Before the upper body section, the therapist stepped out briefly so I could take off my underwear!

Upper body, 40 minutes — focused on the shoulder blades

Lying face down, they pressed from my lower back up through my upper body, and since I mentioned I have rounded shoulders, they paid extra attention to my shoulder blades. I really thought my wings were going to get pulled out. And why does it make that cracking sound at the shoulder blades? Crunch crunch haha.

Upper body massage focused on the shoulder blades

It felt amazing but hurt too... which made me realize all over again how much I'm not using — or misusing — those muscles. It was sore even the next day. Also, it's not about pressing with brute force, they only loosen the muscles and fascia to release tension, so it wasn't to the point of struggling to breathe or sweating!

They turned me back over and finished with something like a lymphatic massage around the armpits and upper chest. When it feels this good, you get so drowsy you could fall asleep...

The room after finishing the 90-minute massage

I genuinely want this every single day. The therapist was the best. They didn't have a business card, so I made sure to get their name. I heard ₩5,000–10,000 is the right tip range for Kozy Foot Shop, so I gave the max on my way out.

My calves and shoulder blades were sore until the next day. Even though it hurt, it felt like the good kind of pain from muscles loosening up!

How to book and get a discount

  • You can book through Naver Reservation, which also gives you a ₩2,000 discount coupon!
  • You can also inquire by phone or text — I texted them to book!
  • Same-day booking is accepted too, but slots fill up fast, so book ahead!
  • There's a ₩20,000 deposit. You just pay the remaining balance minus the deposit.

Q&A

Can I get this for medical treatment purposes?

No! This is a folk remedy that only relaxes muscles — for things like herniated discs, fractures, or severe muscle pain, you need to see a doctor!

Is tipping required?

A manner tip of ₩5,000–10,000 is posted! I'm sure some people are hesitant about it, but after the massage I didn't mind giving it at all — it felt that good!

Can children get a massage here?

They said they also have a growth-plate massage program designed as a course for children!

Final thoughts

Honestly, getting a massage in Seoul costs at least ₩200,000, so getting this full course for ₩90,000 was amazing!!! If I lived in Jeonju I'd want to come every week...

There are a lot of healing shops and foot shops in Jeonju Hanok Village, but they're more like tourist experiences — getting a proper, by-the-book massage here felt so much better! My sibling, who exercises, started going too the very next day after I recommended it! If you're looking for a massage or couple's massage in Jeonju, I highly recommend this place!!
