Before the service, I had a one-on-one consultation with designer Youngjun. It was clearly different from typical salons that just say "I'll press your sides down" and go straight to applying solution. He carefully checked my hair thickness and elasticity, the direction of hair growth, and even the left-right imbalance of my head shape. When I mentioned my scalp tends to be sensitive, he reassured me he'd apply a scalp protector thoroughly before starting.

During the service — calculating the angle for temples and behind-the-ear lines

Once the actual down perm began, Youngjun's expertise really stood out. He sectioned my hair very precisely according to the direction of growth on the sides and back before applying the solution, and his fingertip technique was extremely delicate. What impressed me was how he kept the natural volume at the crown while calculating the exact angle to press down the temples and behind-the-ear areas, which tend to flare out easily. Rather than just applying solution and pressing it flat, he added a design element so the whole face shape would look slimmer.

Shampoo, scalp massage, and the finishing detail cut

The good experience continued when I moved to the shampoo station. He rinsed out the down perm solution completely, leaving no residue, and gave me a scalp massage along with it — it was refreshing enough to melt away all my stress.

Back at the seat after the shampoo, as my hair dried, I could see right away that just towel-drying was enough to keep the sides flat and neat. There was no over-flattened, artificial look, no sense of a fake 'seaweed'-like flatness — it hugged the head softly and naturally, following the flow of the hair. After drying, he finished with a detail cut to tidy up the line, blending the down-permed section smoothly into the hair above.

After the service and how it held up days later

Now, a few days after the service, my morning styling time has been cut by more than half, and my quality of life has noticeably improved. I wash my hair, just roughly towel-dry it, and it still looks as neat as if I'd just walked out of the salon.
