Seongdong hair salon fixes uneven roots with tone-down dark brown dye: Oreudeubi

Hi, it's Bonna! Lately the thing bothering me most whenever I looked in the mirror was my hair color! It had gotten way too light, so I figured I needed to darken it... ugh, what a hassle~.~

As my old dye job faded, my overall color got lighter and especially my roots and ends felt totally out of sync. So this time I decided to go with a calm tone-down full color!

Color consultation before the tone-down dye

The pre-color consultation was pretty thorough. With tone-down dye, if it comes out too black it can look heavy, and it's also hard to go back to a lighter color later, right? I liked that the designer casually asked about whether I usually tie my hair up and what styling I do often before recommending a color.

I told him I wanted a color with no red tones that looked calm and clean. Rather than just covering everything dark, he checked my current hair condition and existing dye color first, then recommended a shade that would suit my skin tone and still look tidy even after it faded over time. 🥹

A full color process with no worries about patchiness

The full color started for real! I was a little worried the result might come out patchy since there was a color difference between the previously dyed section and the newly grown part, but seeing the finished look, that worry was unnecessary. He applied the color meticulously so it would come out even from roots to ends, and kept checking in to make sure I was comfortable, so the whole process felt easy!

How the finished dark brown color actually looked

Ta-da! The finished color at last! ✨ Before the dye, my ends used to look yellowish and reddish in sunlight, but after toning down, my whole hair color became a lot more even and calm.

More than anything, it didn't feel like I'd just dyed my hair black — it felt like the tone was naturally settled. I loved that it looked calm and neat indoors while feeling softly glowing in natural light. It gave off a more polished, put-together vibe overall. It also doesn't really clash with my clothing colors, so it's perfect for everyday wear!

Just changing my hair color alone made my whole impression look so much neater, and even my skin tone looked relatively clearer! Especially heading into fall, I wanted to shift the mood away from my bright summer hair, and this was exactly the mood I was going for! 👏👏👏

Who should get a tone-down full color like this

Designer Jihun at Oreudeubi Sangwangsimni branch finished everything neatly, right down to the S-curl styling. What satisfied me most was that when I told him the color I wanted, instead of just covering it heavily dark, he matched the tone naturally to my current hair condition. 🥹

If your old dye has faded into a patchy mess, or you're just tired of bright hair and want to shift to a calmer mood, I'd recommend a tone-down full color. If you want a natural, neat color that isn't too black like mine, designer Jihun is the answer!
