Sangam kiosk gimbap shop, yubu rolls by spice: Samhyeongje Gimbap
In short
Samhyeongje Gimbap, Sangam branch is a takeout-only gimbap shop on the first basement floor of Nuridream Square in Mapo, Seoul. At the time of the visit most rolls were already made, so pickup was quick after paying at the kiosk. The original yubu gimbap was sweet and filling, the spicy odeng version was seriously hot, and the wasabi tuna turned out milder than expected.

I had to grab lunch at Nuridream Square but didn't have much time. I picked gimbap (seaweed rice roll) as something simple yet filling, and got three yubu (fried tofu pocket) gimbap flavors to go from Samhyeongje Gimbap, Sangam branch.

Where is Samhyeongje Gimbap, Sangam branch?
The shop is located at B1, Unit 1029, Nuridream Square, 396 World Cup buk-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea. This is where I went to pick up my takeout lunch.

As posted at the time of writing, the hours were weekdays 7am to 8pm, Saturday 8am to 3pm, and closed on Sunday. Parking was listed with the first 30 minutes free, and there were no baby chairs.
How long did ordering and takeout take at the kiosk?
This is a takeout-only shop with no seating inside. You choose your menu and pay at the kiosk, then grab your gimbap — the whole process was simple.

When I visited, most of the gimbap was already made and on display.

From payment to walking out with my gimbap felt like about 10 seconds. I didn't time it exactly, but there was almost no wait that day, which was great for a tight lunch break.
How did the three yubu gimbap flavors differ?
The flavors I picked that day were original yubu gimbap, spicy odeng (fish cake) yubu gimbap, and wasabi tuna yubu gimbap. The shop sells several flavors built around yubu gimbap, so I tried a different one each time.

Was the original yubu gimbap filling enough as a meal?
The original yubu gimbap had that characteristic sweet flavor of yubu and was easy to eat without feeling heavy. The filling was quite generous, so I thought even one roll would be enough for a full lunch.
How spicy was the spicy odeng yubu gimbap?
I usually handle spicy food well, so the name alone didn't worry me much. But of the three, the spicy odeng yubu gimbap had the strongest flavor.

It seemed fine at first, but the heat built up the more I ate, and I found it quite spicy too. If you're sensitive to spice, I'd suggest alternating with another flavor like the original instead of eating this one alone.
Did the wasabi tuna yubu gimbap have a sharp kick?
The third one I tried, wasabi tuna yubu gimbap, was milder than the name suggested.

For my taste, the wasabi flavor didn't stand out much, and the kick wasn't strong either.

The savoriness of the tuna combined with the sweetness of the yubu made for a different taste from the spicy odeng. Alternating between the three kept things from getting monotonous.
Was the packed gimbap easy to carry?
The gimbap was wrapped neatly in foil, packed in a way that was easy to carry elsewhere rather than eat on the spot.

The rolls stayed intact in the packaging, making them easy to carry and easy to eat later. It suited my situation well, since I needed to grab lunch at Nuridream Square and head elsewhere.

How was Samhyeongje Gimbap for a short lunch break?
What I appreciated most this visit was being able to pay and grab pre-made gimbap right away.

That day, I was able to pack lunch quickly and get on with my day. There's no seating in the shop, but that made it convenient when time was short and I needed to grab food and go.

Picking several flavors to share would also work well. In my combination, the sweet original, spicy odeng, and relatively mild wasabi tuna each had a clear, distinct character. The owner was friendly too, which made for a pleasant takeout experience.

Next time, I'd like to try some of the other yubu gimbap flavors I didn't get to this time.
