When fall comes around, my husband and I have one day that's a little special to us. 🍂 Our wedding anniversary! We got married on September 9th. My husband's friends heard the date and joked it sounds like '9-9' repeated back-to-back haha.

Time flew and somehow we've already hit our 8th anniversary. 💍 But then it hit me — what did we even do last year...? 🤔 We both racked our brains together and just couldn't remember. So sad haha.

So this year we said, "Let's actually make something memorable happen," and while looking around we found a spot — a brand new jazz bar in Songpa-gu, Seoul called Allegro. 🎷🎹

Can you bring a child to Allegro, a Bangi-dong jazz bar?

Allegro isn't a no-kids-zone, so we were able to come in with our son. For our 8th anniversary, it wasn't just the two of us — all three of us went, son included.

Honestly, since we have a kid, we tend to look for places the whole family can enjoy rather than somewhere just for couples. A jazz bar, though! Our son had never been to one before, so it seemed like it'd be a fresh experience for him too.

Bottom line — bringing him along was absolutely the right call. 😊 The music wasn't hard to follow, and with little explanations sprinkled in between songs, our son ended up enjoying it way more than I expected.

Parking at Allegro and how to find the building

Allegro doesn't have its own parking, so we used the paid lot diagonally across from the building. (We paid ₩11,000 for 1 hour 40 minutes.)

It's the building with Glory Kalguksu on the ground floor. Feels clean and new, like it was just built! Walk slightly around the side of the building to find the entrance, then take the elevator up to the 3rd floor.

While waiting for the elevator, I noticed a nice painting on the wall. 🎨 Little things like that just make you feel good, you know? My son was very cooperative for the photo.

First impression: the mood inside Allegro

We booked a weekday 6:30pm reservation and ended up being the first guests that night. Walking into Allegro, I was struck by how clean and tidy it looked, with chairs arranged facing the stage directly. Overall it felt quiet and calm, but with a little bit of anticipation in the air too.

You can see Lotte Tower through the window. 🏙️ We've been getting these gorgeous fall skies lately, and the view outside just added to the whole mood. A little later, once the sun set, Lotte Tower took on a completely different atmosphere.

And the pretty lamp on every table! You can even adjust the brightness — now I want one at home. That sudden urge to buy things...😂

Even the restroom is surprisingly pretty. There was such a nice-looking door that I took a photo wondering "what's this?" — turns out it was the restroom entrance haha. Inside there's a sink and a large mirror, with separate stalls for men and women. Grabbed a mirror shot too 📸 — even the diffuser in there has such a mood to it.

There was mouthwash set out too. Little details like that were a nice touch. 😊

The four dishes ordered at Allegro that night

At Allegro, we ordered four things that day.

• Seafood salad
• Sous-vide pork collar steak
• Carbonara
• Amatriciana

While looking for good pasta in Bangi-dong, I was also hoping to find somewhere with solid food overall — and the menu here was exactly our style.

Allegro's seafood salad: pretty from the colors alone

The seafood salad came out first, and honestly the plating colors were just gorgeous. 🌿 With bell pepper, cherry tomatoes and even sea grapes in it, it looked colorful and had a nice variety of textures too. I don't usually get to eat sea grapes, so it was a nice surprise to meet them on a plate.

It was dressed with white balsamic, lemon juice and olive oil for a bright, tangy flavor — a good, light starter before the pasta.

Why the carbonara was the unexpected favorite

Then the two pastas arrived. I tried the carbonara first, and... huh? It felt a little different from any carbonara I'd had before. 👀

Allegro's carbonara apparently gets its flavor from guanciale, pecorino cheese and fresh egg yolk. Maybe that's why the rich, savory taste of the fresh yolk really came through, layered with the depth of the guanciale — it was delicious.

And it was the dish our son ate the most of that night! If you're bringing a kid along, I'd definitely recommend getting the carbonara. It was also my own personal favorite of everything we ate that day. ❤️

Allegro's amatriciana: the flavor everyone knows

Next up, the amatriciana! Being tomato-based, it had a completely different appeal from the carbonara. The bright tomato flavor really came through, and switching back and forth with the rich carbonara meant neither got boring. I was glad we ordered both pastas.

Sous-vide pork collar steak, crisp outside and tender inside

Last to arrive was the sous-vide pork collar steak. The outside was seared crispy while the sous-vide cooking kept the inside perfectly juicy. Dipped in the peppercorn sauce, the meat's flavor and the sauce worked so well together, it was really good. 😋

The fries served alongside were fried up nice and crispy too — we ended up polishing off the whole plate haha.

What time does the live jazz start at Allegro, and how much?

The live music at Allegro starts at 7:30pm, and the live charge is ₩10,000 per person. You can check ahead of time which act is playing that day, so it might be worth picking a date around whichever lineup you want to catch.

Allegro isn't just a dinner spot — it's a space where you can enjoy dinner and a live show together. On the night we visited, we got to see the group 'Haelub.' 🎶 Piano, double bass and vocals — three performers, and wow, they were all seriously skilled.

The bass anchored everything, the piano came in sweet and smooth, and the vocals brought a whole other kind of charm to the room — each had their own distinct color, but together they blended beautifully. I got pulled right in without even noticing.

You don't need to know jazz to enjoy Allegro's live set

Honestly, I'm not someone who listens to jazz regularly. But there were more songs I recognized than I expected, and with the little explanations given between pieces, even my son stayed focused and listened closely. They chatted a bit with the audience between songs too. 😊

Since the space itself isn't very big, the distance between performers and the audience is really close. It genuinely felt like you were making eye contact with each musician one by one, sharing the mood and emotion of the room together. That's probably a kind of magic you just can't get at a big concert hall — something only a small jazz bar can give you.

The anniversary dessert that came from a reservation note

When we made our reservation at Allegro, we left a note mentioning it was our wedding anniversary. So once our meal was mostly wrapped up, the staff cleared the table and brought out a dessert for the occasion — brownie and pudding! 🍮🍫 We got to slowly enjoy dessert while watching the live show.

After the first set ended, with our kid there and a bouquet on our table, we clearly caught some eyes. They asked if it was a special occasion, and when I said, "It's our wedding anniversary," they took the time — even though they were supposed to be on a break between sets — to sing our favorite song, L.O.V.E, for us as a congratulations.

That moment... I think it's going to stay with me for a long time.

It didn't feel like we just had a nice dinner and watched a show — it felt like we were given a small anniversary gift made just for our family.
