Ansan izakaya with reserved dinner: Gisul's platter and hongjjamppong

In short

Gisul is a Japanese-style izakaya on Gojan 1-gil in Jungang-dong, Ansan, near Ansan Station. Visiting on a reservation, the writer tackled the signature Gisul platter, a spicy hongjjamppong (red seafood noodle soup), and draft beer, finding the sashimi and side dishes generous and the broth deep and fiery. For anyone in Ansan's Jungang-dong wanting both atmosphere and great drinking food, the Gisul platter plus hongjjamppong combo is the answer.

This time it's an izakaya in Ansan's Jungang-dong that's word-of-mouth famous both as a top spot for drinking food and as an atmospheric Ansan Jungang-dong bar — a place where you can raise a glass happily amid gorgeous, genuinely Japanese-feeling vibes and high-quality side dishes.

I've brought back my honest review of 'Gisul.' From the signature Gisul platter to the deep, fiery broth of the hongjjamppong, I ate until I was stuffed — here's the delicious story! 💨

What's the atmosphere like? Japanese-style interior & a spacious, comfortable room 🏠✨

Spacious seating: the seats are generously spaced, so you can enjoy your drinks and conversation comfortably without feeling cramped.

A varied, fresh lineup of drinking food: alongside the signature Gisul platter, there's salmon sashimi, chicken nanban, hanwoo mungtigi (raw beef strips), and zero-sugar yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) — creative, fresh dishes that even think about your health.

A generous drinks selection: there's a wide range of alcohol to match the high-quality, fresh-ingredient dishes, great for drinking however you like. 😊

A deep broth that clears your head: hongjjamppong

Taste: right when we were craving a warm, spicy broth while eating the platter, the hongjjamppong arrived! Loaded with fresh seafood, the broth is deep and rich, just spicy enough that it feels like drinking and getting a hangover cure at the same time. Slurping down the noodles from that fiery broth made for the perfect finish. 🍜🔥
