Garlic baguette and a cosmos field by the sea at Baegya Coffee
In short
Baegya Coffee is a large ocean-view bakery café right in front of Sacheonjin Beach in Gangneung, spanning four floors up to a rooftop. Visiting with family, iced café latte, iced green matcha latte, and a garlic baguette were enjoyed by the floor-to-ceiling windows on the 2nd and 3rd floors, with the sea and a fall cosmos field in view. Chosen over Anmok Café Street, it turned out to be the best café of the whole Gangneung trip thanks to its much wider view.

An ocean-view café in Gangneung, chosen over Anmok Café Street
Gangneung means the sea first and foremost — you really have to see it while you're here. So on this trip, an ocean-view café felt right for a relaxed cup of coffee looking out at the water. Honestly, Anmok Café Street has gotten a bit old and crowded, so this time a different spot was picked instead! Here's an honest review of Baegya Coffee, an ocean-view café in Gangneung. It turned out to be such a healing, good-vibes café that it felt like the right call.

Right in front of Sacheonjin Beach, with plenty of parking
📍 Located right in front of Sacheonjin Beach, near Gyeongpo, Gangneung 🅿️ A large ground-level parking lot is available behind the store
Baegya Coffee is a large café — it spans from the 1st floor all the way up to a 4th-floor rooftop. Personally, big cafés are preferred over cramped independent ones, so this was a plus. It sits right in front of the beach and has plenty of parking too!

Baegya Coffee hours
⏰ Baegya Coffee, Gangneung ocean-view café — hours Daily 09:00–21:00 Last order 20:30
Worth keeping the hours in mind when visiting. It opens surprisingly early and stays open surprisingly late, with no closed days at all, so it's easy to swing by whenever.

An ocean view that takes in the whole sea
True to being an ocean-view café, the sea is visible in one sweep. 🌊 Honestly, a café's coffee matters, everything matters, but the biggest purpose is really
Coffee at a café matters, everything about it matters, but honestly the biggest point is 'rest.' And when the view is this good, it genuinely feels healing. Coming to Gangneung to see the sea, this is a space to rest comfortably while taking in the ocean to the fullest.

The whole family gasped the moment they walked in — a proper ocean-view café, genuinely impressive. Calling it a good-vibes café isn't an exaggeration; the atmosphere here is just that good.

What was ordered and the prices
✔️ Iced café latte ₩6,300 × 2 ✔️ Iced green matcha latte ₩6,500
Given the view, the location, and the taste, the coffee prices felt genuinely reasonable. Some trendy cafés charge over ₩7,000 for an Americano these days, so this isn't bad at all. Factoring in the view, it actually feels like great value.

Garlic baguette — even the bakery here is good
Baegya Coffee also has a wide dessert lineup. True to its name as a bakery café, it sells a genuinely diverse range of desserts. A garlic baguette (마농 바게트) was picked, and honestly, even the bakery items here overdeliver.

Order on the 1st floor, floor-to-ceiling ocean view on the 2nd–3rd
Coffee is ordered on the 1st floor of Baegya Coffee, and a wide range of bakery items is available there too. There are tables on the 1st floor as well, but most people seem to head up to the 2nd and 3rd floors for the sea view! Still, the 1st floor has its own charm.

The ocean view from the 2nd and 3rd floors of Baegya Coffee is incredible! One whole side of the café is floor-to-ceiling glass, so a truly proper ocean view can be enjoyed. The tables are spaced generously too, and being a large café, it never feels cramped — a big plus.

There's good-vibes decor everywhere you look. This is a genuinely good-vibes café — even without the ocean view, it would still be worth the trip. The overall atmosphere is just really good.

A cosmos field by the sea, two treats in one
The sea viewed from the café is healing itself .. 🌊 On top of that, since it's fall, a cosmos field has been planted right in front of the beach, so the pretty flowers were enjoyed as a bonus. Plenty of cafés have been visited around Gangneung, but it's been a while since one with such a clear sea view, great atmosphere, and generous size came along.

Okay to bring a baby?
Visiting with a baby is fine, and baby chairs are provided. However, the terrace and rooftop are no-kids zones. Given the risk of kids getting hurt outdoors, that makes sense. Most of the indoor space is fine for babies though, so it's a comfortable spot for families.

A proper healing session at Baegya Coffee, the ocean-view café in Gangneung! If only this café had been known about sooner — visits to Gangneung would have happened way more often. The wide-open sea view is genuinely uplifting. Skip Anmok Café Street and come here instead! The view is so much better than Anmok's.

Restrooms on every floor
Restrooms are inside the store on every floor, and they're so clean and pleasant that it's an extra plus. Honestly, coming to relax and then dealing with an unpleasant restroom is a letdown, but everything here is spotless.

With a wide range of bakery items and drinks, Baegya Coffee is a great place to unwind while looking at the Gangneung sea. The problem is the coffee and the bakery are both too good. It's not just the view — the food is genuinely delicious too, making it hard to find a single drawback.

Generous coffee portions too
For a trendy café, the coffee portions were generously sized — a nice surprise! Usually at aesthetic cafés, the cups are tiny and the coffee's gone in three sips. Prices are high but the amount is small, which is disappointing, but Baegya Coffee at least gives a decent portion.

The drinks aren't just photogenic, they actually taste good, and the bakery is properly done too. The overall vibe, taste, and service were all great. If a real ocean-view café in Gangneung is what's wanted, skip Anmok Café Street and come to Baegya Coffee instead :) It was the best spot of the whole Gangneung trip.
