Gangnam Italian restaurant dinner with truffle pasta: Osteria Eden
In short
Osteria Eden is an Italian restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul, with a Paris-view screen and terrace seating. I visited with my mom on a weekday evening for truffle cheese-wheel tagliatelle, French onion soup, and spicy shrimp bisque risotto. Verdict: the truffle fresh pasta was the clear winner!

🍝 A lovely-ambience restaurant recommendation in Cheongdam: Osteria Eden

While searching for a good restaurant to visit with my mom, I found this Cheongdam restaurant with both reasonable prices and a nice atmosphere 😻
Osteria Eden on a weekday evening
This is what the exterior looked like on a weekday evening! I’d had my eye on this restaurant for a few days, so I made a 7 p.m. dinner reservation on a weekday and went 🍴

The lower level, first floor, and second floor were all home to well-known, popular restaurants.

I guess it’s a bit European(?) here. The first floor is called floor 0, and floor 1 starts on what would be the second floor—do you know what I mean..? Hahahaha
We arrived on floor 1! We took the elevator up. It’s honestly not a high floor at all, but we said, just for today, let’s go full Cheongdam-dong madam style hahaha
Inside the restaurant, with an Eiffel Tower screen
Wow~ A huge screen with the Eiffel Tower welcomed us..? I came after work, and it somehow made me feel like I was traveling abroad haha
After saying we had a reservation, we were shown to our table. Mom said she preferred a window seat, but I loved this one too because the Eiffel Tower looked so big haha
This is the terrace area!! It would be perfect to sit there in cool weather like we’ve been having lately haha. There were also more private seats inside!
Right at sunset, the Paris scene of the Seine glowing in the sunset changed into a night view!! Whose idea was this detail? Those of you who have followed my blog know that I love noticing little details, so of course I spotted it right away haha
Our order and the 14-month-aged-cheese pasta
The second we sat down and opened the menu, another round of indecision began…🤔

After debating for quite a while, we ordered three dishes: 🧅 French onion soup, 🍝 truffle cheese-wheel tagliatelle, and 🦐 spicy shrimp bisque risotto. + There were sooo many wines that it was impossible to photograph them all ㅜ
The detailed descriptions were available in both Korean and English, and the truffle cheese-wheel tagliatelle uses cheese aged for no less than 14 months!! It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say I came for this pasta, so I was really looking forward to it~!
Bread dipped in olive oil

They served bread as soon as we ordered.

It was lightly crisp on the outside and moist inside, and it was several times more delicious dipped in olive oilㅠㅠ You have to dip it!

The unexpected bread was so good that we devoured it in a flash! We asked for a refill, and they happily brought us more haha
French onion soup that went perfectly with the bread

I had onion soup a few times when I was in France, but it wasn’t really to my taste then. Mom wanted to try it, so we ordered it—and what is this..?

It was way more delicious than the onion soup I had in France?! You could really taste the distinctive sweetness of long-cooked onions and the deep savory flavor!

More than anything, it was piled high with cheese, so the way it stretched with every spoonful was no joke 🧀

The soup’s rich broth soaked into the bread and brought all the flavor to life—it went together far better than I expected.

Our mom even started properly enjoying the soup by dipping in the extra bread we’d ordered earlier☺️
Truffle cheese-wheel tagliatelle finished before our eyes
Huh? Where did the truffle go... Is this really what we ordered..? Just as I was about to ask, they brought out some kind of jewel box(?) right in front of us and put on a truffle performance 💃🏻 Best free show on an autumn night,,
As they grated the truffle, the aroma was insane. I wished they would grate just a little more.... Just a liiittle more,,,, haha

I served Mom first, and her eyes went wide as she said, “This is absolutely number one.” Hahaha Mom.. the risotto hasn’t even come out yet..?
But the moment I took a bite, I immediately went, “Me too!!! This is number one!!!” It tasted like pasta from Italy itself. I’ve never had pasta this delicious in my life,, Now that our standards are this high, how will we eat anything elseㅠㅠ

It was my first time trying fresh pasta, and the noodles were really thick 👍🏻 To think I could taste pasta like this in Korea,, the world really has gotten better.
Spicy-creamy balance: shrimp bisque risotto
We’d had something creamy first, so to balance it out, we needed something spicy too, right? Koreans run on rice, so we ordered risotto haha

The risotto grains were seriously plump, you know? I got to experience secondhand what risotto made by Napoli Matfia might be like~ The deep bisque flavor came through first, followed by a gentle spicy kick.
The shrimp.. were seriously insane. You could really feel that they don’t skimp on ingredients here. Osteria Eden is hands-down number one for shrimp with such a satisfying bite!!

Cheers~🥂 I’m a total beginner with alcohol, so I couldn’t drink and was just cheers-ing with water ㅠ haha. But even the water here isn’t just water. Mom thought it had a jasmine scent? I got a lemony note.
Crème brûlée from the review event

As we were finishing our meal, we were told that we could choose one dessert by participating in a review event. The choices were tiramisu and crème brûlée, and we went with crème brûlée at Mom’s suggestion. 🍮
Tap! Me, cracking it ever so timidly. This is the charm of crème brûlée!
When you tap! through the caramelized top, it breaks with a crisp crackle, and underneath is soft, rich custard cream~!
Final thoughts on a Cheongdam evening with Mom
It was an evening where the entire meal flowed naturally, from the bread to the mains and dessert. What stood out most, surprisingly, was the bread + French onion soup combination! 🥖🧅 If I visit again, I think I’d definitely have that pairing one more time.
The truffle cheese-wheel tagliatelle was immensely satisfying, with its truffle aroma and chewy noodles. The spicy shrimp bisque risotto had a rich shrimp flavor plus heat, so it was creamy without feeling overly heavy. The crème brûlée at the end was just right as a finish!

If you’d like to slowly wind down your day after work over a delicious dinner, an evening at Osteria Eden could be a pretty good choice. 🌙🍷
