Corkage-free yukhoe with gamtae and yuksashimi in Bangi-dong, Seoul
In short
Hampyeong Yukhoe Bangi Main Branch is a mungtigi (chopped raw beef) and yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) restaurant in Bangi-dong, Songpa, Seoul. On a weekday evening around 7pm the place was nearly full, and thanks to its corkage-free policy a group at the next table brought their own whisky to drink. Both the yuksashimi (raw beef slices) and yukhoe were fresh with no gamy smell, and the generous gamtae (seasoned seaweed) given through a Naver reservation made it clear why this spot is so popular.

This time I visited Hampyeong Yukhoe Bangi Main Branch, a famous mungtigi (chopped raw beef) restaurant in Seoul that's also known as a spot Tzuyang visited!
The reason I went was that my friend loves mungtigi and yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) so much and said this place was delicious, so I went to check it out 😎
But... I think I get why it's so popular lol. My friend said she's a regular here, and now I understand why it's praised as a favorite among Bangi-dong regulars.

Parking? Public transit recommended
This is the Hampyeong Yukhoe main branch! I checked whether parking was possible in front of the store...

I'd recommend using public transit if at all possible, and if you're driving, please check the nearby paid parking lot info!

Corkage-free, plus takeout of same-day slaughtered raw beef
You can take out same-day slaughtered raw beef here~ And this restaurant is corkage-free. The group at the table next to me had brought their own whisky and were drinking it. If you're looking for a corkage-free restaurant in Seoul, this place is great.

Nearly full even at 7pm on a weekday
This is what the tables inside the restaurant look like. I visited around 7pm on a weekday, and even then there were so many customers that I couldn't get photos of the rest of the tables. I didn't understand why it was so popular before eating, but after eating, I got it.

Seating time is limited when there's a wait... and that's not the restaurant being unreasonable — it's genuinely that popular lol

Apparently Tzuyang, who I love, did a mukbang here eating yuksashimi. How happy she must have been...

Receipt review perk
If you leave a receipt review, you get free bucheosal (flat iron beef) shabu-shabu or sweet shrimp sashimi. This receipt review perk is genuinely generous. You know both of those are pricier menu items, right.. 🥹🥹

Basic side dishes and clear ox blood soup
These are the basic side dishes provided. Corn mayo ❤️ so good! Even people who can't eat raw dishes like yukhoe or mungtigi can cleanse their palate deliciously with the corn mayo. The basic side dishes were fairly generous. Even the well-fermented mukeunji (aged kimchi) was perfect.. sour and tangy and so good.

They also give you clear ox blood soup, which is total soju bait. But it was great to just spoon up even without soju. It was seasoned a bit salty, which made it even tastier!

Bibimbap for dessert. This one doesn't have separate yukhoe mixed in — you can add in whatever's left from your meal, or just eat it plain!!

How do mungtigi and yuksashimi taste?
Whoa, so chewy. The color alone looks incredibly fresh 😄 The moment you take a bite, the texture clings together in your mouth.. chewy in the best way. Neither the yuksashimi nor the yukhoe had any gamy smell at all, and the more you chewed, the more the savory flavor burst out — I immediately understood why it's the signature dish. Why there are so many customers!! Why it's a Bangi-dong favorite!!

Dipping it in the egg yolk served alongside added even more softness, making it an addictive delicacy I couldn't stop eating! The moment I tasted it, I understood why it has so many regulars. So fresh.. and so incredibly delicious.

The yukhoe is lightly seasoned but not overdone. Sometimes when you eat yukhoe, the garlic seasoning is so strong that all you taste is garlic, but here there was none of that — just the right amount of delicious seasoning!!!!!!! Good to eat plain and also good mixed into the bibimbap.

Sesame oil dipping sauce from a traditional oil mill
You dip the yuksashimi in the oil sauce. Oh my, the sesame oil was seriously so savory — apparently it's directly pressed sesame oil from a traditional oil mill. I wanted to steal it. The depth of that nutty flavor is on another level!!

Several ways to eat it
Vinegared rice for sushi. Totally doable to make yukhoe sushi with this ❤️

You can also wrap it up in the seaweed they give you, like this

You can also mix it into the bibimbap. Ugh.. I want to eat it again. I'd also recommend Hampyeong Yukhoe Bangi Main Branch for a group drinking spot in Bangi-dong. I want you, restaurant.

Free gamtae with a Naver Reservation
Giving free gamtae (seasoned seaweed) just for booking through Naver Reservation.. gamtae is expensive, you know ㅠ I thought they'd give a tiny taste, but they gave a full serving; it was as much as if I'd ordered it as a proper menu item. Not exaggerating. They gave a whole lot. Casually plopped it down saying, 'This is the Naver Reservation service,' and left — I nearly fell for the owner's generosity.

Thanks to that, I got to eat fresh mungtigi wrapped in gamtae

A place that even gives you stylish ways to eat deliciously.. seriously.. now I get why it's such a famous restaurant.. a genuinely amazing spot in Bangi-dong that just makes you go 'wow.' By the time I left, it had gotten packed with customers, so I quickly finished up and left. It's already famous, but I hope it gets even more famous ❤️❤️
