Suwon restaurant date night with steak burrata pizza: The European
In short
The European Haenggung Main Branch is an Italian restaurant opposite Hwaseong Haenggung in Suwon, Gyeonggi. After the night opening, I ordered the 31,000 won steak burrata pizza and 32,000 won seafood tomato fresh pasta. A great dinner-date pairing with distinct meat and seafood flavors.

I visited The European Haenggung Main Branch after checking out the Hwaseong Haenggung night opening and looking for somewhere to have dinner. It is right in front of Hwaseong Haenggung, so it is easy to add to a Haenggung-dong date or outing itinerary, haha. It is actually a place I visit often too 😋 You can try dishes by a chef with 10 years of experience at Seoul's Shilla Hotel, and it is especially known for its authentic Neapolitan wood-fired pizza!
The European Haenggung Main Branch right by Hwaseong Haenggung
It is on the first floor at 21 Haenggung-ro, Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, and is open from 11:30 to 21:30.
Outside the restaurant

The European comes into view as you walk around Hwaseong Haenggung. I visited at night, and its warmly lit exterior suited Haenggung-dong's atmospheric mood so well! It is also conveniently located for dinner after seeing the Hwaseong Haenggung night opening.
An interior with the feel of a European restaurant

Once inside, the atmosphere I felt from outside continues right on through! From the area displaying wine bottles to the chandeliers and wood-toned furniture, the interior overall reminded me of a European restaurant.
Personally, I thought it suited an evening date really well. With 84 seats in total, it is roomier inside than I expected. It would be lovely for couples, but it also looked like a solid choice for a meal or gathering with a larger group 👍
Ordering steak pizza and seafood pasta

That day, I ordered the Signature Steak Burrata Pizza for ₩31,000 and the Seafood Tomato Fresh Pasta for ₩32,000. They made a really great combination for two 👍

Since both were main dishes, the table was practically full with this generous spread. The pizza was rich and substantial thanks to the steak and burrata cheese, while the pasta centered on the savory depth of tomato sauce and seafood, so the flavors did not overlap, which I loved 😆 Since this order gives you one meat dish and one seafood dish, I would personally recommend this pairing if you are visiting as a pair.
Signature pizza topped with steak and burrata

This is The European's signature pizza, topped with 120 g of steak, burrata cheese, arugula, tomatoes, mushrooms, and basil pesto. Some steak pizzas only come with a few pieces of meat, but this one had plenty of large steak pieces across the pizza, so the look alone was so good, good 👍 A whole burrata sits in the center.

I heard The European puts a lot of care into its dough from the start. They use dough that is cold-fermented for 18 hours and aged for 24 hours, then bake it at a high 485°C in a Stefano Ferrara oven using oak that has passed strict quality inspections—wow.
Maybe that is why the edge of the crust had risen beautifully, with the characteristic char of a wood-fired oven here and there, haha. It was lightly crisp on the outside and chewy within, making this a pizza whose dough was delicious in its own right, not just its toppings!!!

Tomato fresh pasta loaded with seafood
Next was the Seafood Tomato Fresh Pasta. When it first arrived, I was surprised by how much seafood there was. It includes scallops, cuttlefish, shrimp, mussels, and more; the large shrimp and abundant mussels in particular make for quite a spectacular presentation! It arrives in a large pan piled high with seafood, so once it is set beside the pizza on the table, you cannot help taking photos first…!

The shrimp were nicely sized, and there were plenty of mussels and other shellfish, making it fun to pick out and eat each one. The umami of the tomato sauce and seafood came together beautifully, and the sauce itself was quite rich too!

Especially when you have the tomato-sauce pasta alongside the wood-fired pizza, it refreshes the palate, so the two dishes went wonderfully together, haha.
If you are looking for an atmospheric restaurant near Hwaseong Haenggung, The European Haenggung Main Branch was a good one. From chewy Neapolitan pizza baked straight from the wood-fired oven to fresh pasta generously filled with seafood, the dishes themselves looked fantastic too, making it great for a date. I would recommend it to anyone looking for good wood-fired pizza or pasta in Haenggung-dong, or a lovely Haenggung-dong date spot :)
