Suwon café near Banghwasuryujeong: choco banana bowl, Grid in Greek
In short
Grid in Greek is a brunch café in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, that makes its own Greek yogurt and granola in-house. After walking around Banghwasuryujeong Pavilion and Hwahongmun Gate, the writer stopped at Grid in Greek for the choco banana Greek yogurt with an Earl Grey latte and a green tea latte, and found the yogurt light and crumbly rather than too thick, so it mixed easily with the toppings. Grid in Greek is an easy place to rest halfway through a walking-heavy day in Haenggung-dong.

Haenggung-dong has so many good restaurants and pretty cafés that I end up going there often for dates or just an outing. This time, after checking out Banghwasuryujeong Pavilion and Hwahongmun Gate, I stopped by Grid in Greek, a café in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, perfect for a quick rest.

They have everything from light Greek yogurt to sandwiches, granola, and coffee, making it a great addition in the middle of a Haenggung-dong date course.

A light bite between Haenggung-dong walks
Grid in Greek is a brunch café where you can enjoy Greek yogurt, granola, sandwiches, and coffee all together. They have menu options that are especially good when you're looking for a light meal, making it a great fit for people on a diet or looking for a healthier dessert.

I'd had the fig Greek yogurt here before and it was so much better than I expected that it stuck in my memory. That memory came back to me, so I ended up visiting again haha.

Greek yogurt and granola made in-house
What stands out about Grid in Greek is that they make both the Greek yogurt and the granola in-house. Maybe that's why the yogurt itself tasted clean, and it went really well with the toppings.

When people think of Greek yogurt, some picture a texture so thick it's hard to scoop with a spoon. But when I tried it here, it wasn't too dense — more slightly loose and fluffy. Personally, I found it easier to mix with the toppings and less likely to feel heavy going down, which actually made it more enjoyable to eat.
Tasting the choco banana Greek yogurt
This time I tried the choco banana Greek yogurt. Thick Greek yogurt loaded with banana and topped with chocolate — perfect for when you're craving something sweet. The soft texture of the banana paired well with the rich yogurt, and adding the granola on top brought in a nutty flavor and crunchy texture as well.

With the chocolate on top, it felt like a healthy option that still gave off dessert vibes! It made me think that instead of denying yourself entirely while dieting, enjoying something like this Greek yogurt lightly could be a good approach haha.
Add the granola for extra nutty crunch
You can't have Greek yogurt without granola, and since it's made in-house, the crunch was really alive and the nutty flavor was great. Eating it together with the yogurt added a crunchy bite between the soft texture, and I kept reaching for more.

You can also choose your honey to taste, and there are options like sizing up or adding a mini salad to customize your order, which I liked. If you want something light, just go with the yogurt; if you want something more filling, pair it with a sandwich or salad.
Earl Grey latte and green tea latte at Grid in Greek
That day I also ordered the Earl Grey latte and the green tea latte haha. The Earl Grey latte had a subtle black tea aroma and was smooth, while the green tea latte was nutty and clean-tasting, going well with the choco banana Greek yogurt.

Having all three together made for a pretty spread, great for photos 🍌🍫💚
Inside Grid in Greek: mood and seating
Grid in Greek isn't a huge space, but the interior is decorated in a cute, detailed way that's fun to look around. Soft music was playing throughout, giving the whole place a relaxed vibe.

It's slightly off the main Haenggung-dong street, so instead of feeling crowded like the main strip, it's a good spot to spend time at a relaxed pace. It's nice for chatting with a friend, or for stopping in for dessert during a date.

A Haenggung-dong café to visit after Banghwasuryujeong
The location worked well as part of a Haenggung-dong date course. It's fairly close to Hwahongmun Gate and Banghwasuryujeong Pavilion, so it's a great place to rest after walking around and taking photos in the area.

If you're picnicking at Banghwasuryujeong or exploring the Haenggung-dong alleys and looking for something light to eat, it fits naturally into the course. Walking around Haenggung-dong makes you hungry faster than you'd think, and having options like Greek yogurt or sandwiches instead of something heavy made it a solid mid-outing food stop.
A healthy dessert you can still eat while dieting
Sometimes you want dessert even while dieting, right? In those moments, going with a Greek yogurt, fruit, and granola combo instead of a sweet cake or bread is a decent option.

If you like Greek yogurt like I do, it's a plus that you can choose toppings to your taste. It's also fun that the fruit menu changes with the season, from fig to peach, so I'd like to try a different fruit combination next time.
Worth adding to a Haenggung-dong date course
If you're planning to spend a whole day around Haenggung-dong, it could go something like: walk around Banghwasuryujeong → look around Hwahongmun Gate → brunch or Greek yogurt at Grid in Greek → café-hopping through the Haenggung-dong alleys.
It's especially well suited for people who want to sit down for a bit and eat something light in the middle of a walking-heavy Haenggung-dong outing. There's a wide range of choices from Greek yogurt to granola, sandwiches, and coffee, so you can pick according to your taste. I went back because I kept thinking about the fig Greek yogurt I'd had before, and this time too, I left having eaten well enough that I'm curious about the other menu items 🥣🍑 If you're looking for a healthy brunch or a light dessert in Suwon's Haenggung-dong, try stopping by Grid in Greek in the middle of a Haenggung-dong date course around Banghwasuryujeong and Hwahongmun Gate :)
