I was looking for somewhere to eat a solid lunch in Seongpo-dong, Ansan, and ended up at Morakmorak Seolleongtang Ansan Seongpo Main Branch. It's a seolleongtang (ox bone soup) specialty restaurant, but the menu was way more varied than I expected. From soup dishes like seolleongtang and galbitang to yukhoe bibimbap and hamburg steak, it was an easy place to pick something even if the people you're with have different tastes.

That day I ordered the yukhoe bibimbap and the hamburg steak.
Parking at Morakmorak in Seongpo-dong, Ansan

The restaurant is located on the basement floor of the Star Plaza building. Park in the Star Plaza parking lot (free registration available for 4 hours).

There's a big menu board near the entrance, so it was easy to check prices and options before going in.

Inside there are several tables set up, and overall the vibe is comfortable for a relaxed meal.

Wood-toned tables plus some green plant décor made it feel cleaner and cozier than I expected.

Like a Korean BBQ place, there were hoods installed over each table, and besides seolleongtang they also sell beef and pork dishes.
Menu types and prices

Looking at the menu board, there were quite a lot of options.
- Seolleongtang ₩9,000
- Galbitang ₩14,000
- Special seolleongtang ₩14,000
- Yukhoe bibimbap ₩10,000
- Yukhoe / Yuk-sashimi ₩13,000
- Hamburg steak ₩10,000
- Beef bulgogi rice bowl ₩10,000
- Assorted boiled beef, and more
There was quite a range prepared. Meat dishes like samgyeopsal, moksal, hangjeongsal, gabrisal, and even assorted Korean beef sets can be ordered separately.

Whether you're there for a single meal or to go all in on meat, the menu range is pretty wide.

Each table also had small plates and condiments neatly set out.
Clean basic side dishes

The basic side dishes were kimchi, kkakdugi (radish kimchi), onion and peppers, and ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste). A classic setup for a seolleongtang restaurant, and it works well alongside the soup dishes too.
Yukhoe bibimbap, ₩10,000

First up, the yukhoe bibimbap came in a large bowl with rice, fresh vegetables, bean sprouts, various greens, and a generous amount of yukhoe (raw seasoned beef) on top.

Sesame seeds were sprinkled over the yukhoe, so it looked appetizing from the start. Just add the sauce and mix it all up.
As the yukhoe and vegetables mixed together, I got both the crunchy texture and the soft yukhoe in the same bite. There was a good amount of vegetables too, so it was cleaner and less heavy than I expected.

The yukhoe wasn't cut too finely either, so there was still some texture to chew on. Ordering the yukhoe bibimbap also got me a mini seolleongtang soup on the side — taking a sip of warm broth between bites of bibimbap was a pretty good combo.

For 10,000 won you get rice, yukhoe, vegetables, and soup — pretty good value for an Ansan lunch!!
Hamburg steak, ₩10,000
Two thick hamburg steak patties came out on a single plate with rice, salad, and pickles. A rich sauce was poured generously on top of the patties, with sesame seeds sprinkled over as well.

They were thick, so the portion looked pretty substantial. Cutting in with a knife revealed a soft texture, so it would be a good order to bring kids along for too. The sauce was sweet and rich, and went really well with the rice.

Both the yukhoe bibimbap and the hamburg steak were 10,000 won each, which felt easy on the wallet given how expensive eating out has gotten these days.
What stands out about Morakmorak Seolleongtang

Apparently the seolleongtang broth here is made by simmering Korean beef bones and other bones for a long time, then refrigerating and skimming off the fat. That makes it a good spot to visit when you're craving a warm soup dish like seolleongtang or galbitang. Even the mini seolleongtang soup that came with my bibimbap let me taste the broth, and overall it was mild rather than intense — easy to pair with a meal. Worth keeping in mind for lunch near Ansan Jungang Station or when looking for Korean food in Seongpo-dong.

Overall thoughts
I expected a seolleongtang specialty restaurant to be mostly about soup, but the choices — yukhoe bibimbap, hamburg steak, galbitang, and various meat dishes — were more varied than I thought. The restaurant is also spacious and comfortable, so it works for solo dining, lunch, or family visits. If you're looking for good food in Ansan or Seongpo-dong and want options beyond just soup, this is worth stopping by.
