Songdo sushi restaurant for a parents’ meal: Sushi Doku The Songdo

In short

Sushi Doku The Songdo is a Japanese restaurant serving aged sushi set meals on the second floor of Onesta in Yeonsu, Incheon. We enjoyed the Premium Sushi Special Set with my parents, from chewy aged sushi to crisp fried dishes and spicy udon. A generous family meal worth recommending.

Meeting Sushi Doku in Songdo

Sushi Doku, one of Seoul’s most beloved sushi restaurants, has a location in Songdo. I think one of the nice things about living in Songdo is getting to find great Seoul restaurants nearby.

Sushi Doku carefully selects the best ingredients available domestically and prepares them using traditional Japanese aging techniques. Everything is used up the same day, and the fish slices are two to three times larger, making this a standout for both value and flavor in the Seoul metropolitan area.

It is so well known as a Songdo restaurant that there may be people who have never visited, but there are no people who have visited only once.

Introduction to Sushi Doku The Songdo

Onesta second-floor location and hours

Sushi Doku The Songdo is on the second floor of Onesta, located between Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlet and the former Homeplus building.

When you get hungry after shopping at Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlet (Songhyeona) and wonder what to eat, just head to the directly connected second floor. Sushi Doku The Songdo is there, so it is very easy to find.

Hours are 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. There is a break from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and last orders are at 8:15 p.m.

This is a popular Songdo restaurant where you practically need to arrive right at 11:00 a.m.; as lunchtime approaches around noon, a wait is usually inevitable.

Takeout is available as well as dining in, so you can pack up delicious sushi and enjoy it at home as though you were eating at the restaurant.

The basic Standard Sushi Set comes with two pieces of salmon, flounder, akami (lean tuna), ika (squid), cooked shrimp, egg, scallop, red shrimp, and large inari (seasoned tofu sushi), and costs ₩19,900.

I have been getting a little tired of conveyor-belt sushi restaurants lately, so sometimes it is nice to have a set meal served like this.

Standard Sushi Set contents

The most-ordered popular item is the Premium Sushi Special Set, which includes flounder, red sea bream, salmon, ika, sweet shrimp, akami, red shrimp, red crab meat, eel, ankimo (monkfish liver), shrimp tempura, karaage (Japanese fried chicken), udon, and more.

True to its status as the most popular menu, it makes for a very generous meal at ₩25,900. You can also order individual pieces to suit your preferences, including flounder, salmon, inari, egg, cooked shrimp, ika, and red shrimp. There are side dishes such as tamago katsu and assorted fried dishes, so if you visit in the afternoon, they would make nice light snacks with beer.

The Premium Sushi Special Set I had with my parents

This is genuinely a great place to visit with your parents on your own dime, and such a truly good restaurant that there is nothing lacking for lunch with friends, either. This time I came with my parents, and they loved the menu from the start—the elegant full spread and appetizing combination.

Udon, salad, and steamed egg

The udon included with the set has a spicy broth, so it is wonderfully refreshing.

The Japanese-style steamed egg is nice for gently settling an empty stomach.

The crisp fried dishes and karaage

I do not usually like fried food, but the fried dishes served at Sushi Doku were very crisp.

Personally, not only the shrimp tempura but also the karaage felt unlike ordinary convenience food. The meat was plump and the coating was so crispy that it made me think of a glass of beer.

Chewy aged sushi

Since it was summer, I tried not to eat raw food whenever possible, but the weather had become quite cool. Sushi is also one of the foods I loved so, so much that I could not give it up even during pregnancy.

Sushi Doku is made the same day, so it is very, very fresh. Because it is aged in style, it is genuinely chewier than other sushi and has the rich flavor distinctive to aged fish.

If you are looking for a delicious sushi restaurant in Songdo, I recommend Sushi Doku The Songdo.
