Yongin Korean restaurant for tender bossam: Cheongdam Jokbal

In short

Cheongdam Jokbal Gwanggyo Sanghyeon Branch is a Korean restaurant near Sanghyeon Station in Yongin, Gyeonggi. My friend and I had the tender medium bossam for 45,000 won with complimentary makguksu, then packed some up for the kids. Verdict: the moist bossam and tangy makguksu were the standouts.

A neat dining room and storage-seat chairs

The dining room was neat overall, with tables set comfortably apart. It looked good for a family meal, dinner with friends, or even a group work gathering.

Table chair with storage for bags

The table chairs are storage-seat chairs. You can tuck away your bag or coat, which helps keep food smells from clinging to them.

In particular, Cheongdam Jokbal says it boils fresh domestic pork trotters in-house every day and sells them that same day. That won me over even before eating.

The basic spread before the bossam

Basic setting with side dishes and sauces

Before the bossam arrived, the basic side dishes were set out first: lettuce and perilla leaves, peppers, garlic, kimchi, shredded dried radish, cucumber and carrot, three sauces, and a clear bean sprout soup. It was all presented so neatly.

Warm bean sprout soup came with it too. Having sips of the broth while eating the bossam gave my mouth a clean, refreshing finish.

Complimentary makguksu for each table

Complimentary sweet-tangy, spicy makguksu

The makguksu (buckwheat noodles) was seriously crazy-good, haha. With a dine-in order, each table gets it as a complimentary dish. The portion was generous, but more than anything, that seasoning was incredible. I'm coming back just for the makguksu, haha.

The sweet-tangy, spicy makguksu was truly delicious!!! It was even better with the bossam. I can't believe this quality of makguksu was complimentary! ^^

Warm, moist, tender bossam

Warm bossam arranged neatly on a plate

The warm, moist boiled pork arrived arranged so neatly. Once everything was set on the table, it made for quite a generous spread, right? Haha. Seeing that glistening pork made me impatient to dig in, lol.

A generous full bossam spread

First of all, the meat came in thick slices, and its glossy sheen made it look delicious before I even took a bite.

There was just the right balance of lean meat and fat, and you could tell how moist it was just by looking at it.

It felt like it melted away after only a few chews! The meat was moist and mild, with no unpleasant pork smell.
