Quick verdict

How do you even make 1++ hanwoo taste bad?? Selling meat this good should almost be illegal.

My partner and I have been living busy, run-down lives lately.. we needed to recharge! Somewhere with really good, healthy food but that could also set a nice mood. After digging around, I found the answer: Yeongpo Hwa-ro Ingye Branch.

The place

Even from outside you can feel how big this place is, and the sign announcing it's a hanwoo and hanwoo pork specialist gets my heart racing!! There are three types of seating inside, so you can pick depending on why you're visiting — really convenient.

Three seating types: hall, group-dining, and private rooms

First up is the regular hall seating. For simple hangouts, family dinners, or a casual date, these comfortable, separated tables work great.

A long row of connected tables for group dining

Second is the long row of connected seats — perfect for a company dinner. There are smoke vents so the seats can't be pushed together, but being lined up in a row still makes for a lively group setting, and there's enough distance from the hall tables that everyone's comfortable.

Last is the clean, tidy private room. If you want to set a mood, or it's an important occasion that needs privacy, booking a room is the way to go. Everyone can pick what fits their needs — reserve ahead and you'll look like you know what you're doing!

The basic table setting

Basic table setting with salt and wasabi

The basic side dishes are classic and no-frills. No fancy sauces — just salt and wasabi doing the work. Side dishes are scallion salad, kimchi, cucumber, and of course wild garlic leaves. No extras needed here — let the meat speak for itself!

And just in case anyone feels shortchanged, they serve the doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice) — normally a side-menu item — as a complimentary side dish. It even has meat mixed in, so the flavor is rich and you keep reaching for more.

One unusual thing: the grill plate isn't fixed to the table, it's a removable unit. Once you finish grilling, they take the whole thing away, which makes the rest of the meal so much fresher and more comfortable.

The menu highlights

Two servings of the hanwoo assorted platter

We ordered two hanwoo assorted platters, ₩98,000 total. Getting to enjoy 1++ hanwoo across several different cuts at once — Yeongpo Hwa-ro, you sly thing... that's impressive.

Hanwoo cuts arranged in eating order

The eating order goes sirloin, then chuck flap, short rib flap, and shoulder flap. They lay the cuts out in the smart order to eat them, so there's no confusion — you just follow along!

Sirloin

Thick cut of hanwoo sirloin
Plump, thick sirloin

Wow.. this sirloin was less 'sirloin' and more 'stunned'!

Hanwoo sirloin grilling on the fire

How can it be this gorgeously delicious ㅜㅜ Sirloin is usually the toughest, cheapest cut, but hanwoo is a different story.

A grilled piece of hanwoo sirloin

There was also the biggest portion of sirloin, which made it even better — thanks, buddy.

Chuck flap (Salchisal)

Chuck flap (Salchisal)

Ah.. this gorgeous look. It melts in your mouth and disappears so fast you're left wanting more — maybe that's why it's called salchisal (haha).

Chuck flap served with salt and wasabi

Salt and wasabi is the fundamental combo. The grain of the meat stays intact, so it was seriously, seriously delicious.

Short rib flap (Galbisal)

Look at that meat drape down — the grain is alive, so it's bouncy and springy. This one absolutely has to go in my mouth, otherwise there'd be legal consequences!

Put it on the cold noodles, wrap it in wild garlic leaves — however you eat it, it's a blessing. The wild garlic leaves here are genuinely amazing, so definitely wrap your beef in them!

Shoulder flap (Buchaesal)

Shoulder flap (Buchaesal)

This is basically the textbook definition of hanwoo marbling. My mouth is big and I was still sad it only takes one bite to finish.

Grilled shoulder flap with juices flowing

The juices just pour out, and the quality of the meat is so good that no matter how much I ate, I never got sick of it — delicious to the very last bite.

Yeongpo Hwa-ro Ingye Branch is clearly a winner, juice or no juice. Seriously, how am I supposed to resist meat this glossy..!

Codfish cold noodles, ₩7,000

Bibim-style cold noodles topped with codfish

Loaded with codfish, with a sauce that's spicy-sweet and tangy — the kind of cold noodles that perk up your appetite.

And when my eating (and taste) champion of a partner specially asked the owner to pour in some cold noodle broth, it got even better, seriously.

How can you not slurp these noodles.. slurp, then a bite of meat back in your mouth, slurp again — repeat and the noodles vanish in no time.

Finishing with a service bingsu

Right around when I was thinking 'ah, I'm so full'...

Service bingsu brought to the table

The owner appears out of nowhere carrying a service bingsu. Is this really complimentary..? The visuals are seriously impressive too.

Service bingsu before mixing

(Yes, this is brand new, not a single bite taken yet.) Mix the bingsu up well and let it cleanse your palate, and you'll automatically be saying 'that was a great meal' — a place perfect for a group dinner, family gathering, or a date, any time.

Location and parking

Near exit 10 of Suwon City Hall Station. Parking is plentiful right in front of the restaurant.
