Daegu Korean restaurant takeout: fire-grilled squid-pork for a

In short

Banwoldang Bujasikdang is a fire-grilled Korean restaurant in a back alley near Banwoldang Station in Jung-gu, Daegu. A phone order brought home one serving of oje-bokkeum (squid-pork stir-fry, 14,000 won) along with lettuce, ssamu radish and cabbage salad side dishes for a rice bibimbap dinner. The smoky char and generous portion made it a solid weeknight meal for a working couple.

Main photo of takeout oje-bokkeum from Banwoldang Bujasikdang

The weather's finally cooling down a bit and the heat seems to be easing off — I've always done a lot of sponsored takeout runs, but now that the weather's nicer I feel like I'm out even more!

This time I enjoyed takeout from a place called "Bujasikdang," which is already known as a local favorite and recently opened a Suseong branch too, so it's loved by a lot of people. I've been back multiple times because the fire-grilled dishes are so good — want to take a look together?! 👀

Location and parking at Banwoldang Bujasikdang

Banwoldang Bujasikdang, a Korean restaurant near Banwoldang, is about a 5–10 minute walk from Exit 22 of Banwoldang Station, tucked into a back alley. There's no dedicated parking lot, so if you're driving you'll need to use a nearby public parking lot. It's open every day except Sunday. There's a Hyundai Department Store and cafés nearby!

The exterior and waiting seats

Waiting chairs placed outside the restaurant

Outside the restaurant there are chairs for waiting, and it feels trustworthy since it's been named a Jung-gu local favorite, plus there's a big sign reading "fire-grilled cooking specialty restaurant." It mainly serves squid stir-fry and pork stir-fry.

What's the interior like?

You can also see at a glance that this is a place introduced by Jung-gu district as a local favorite — a genuine hot spot visited by YouTubers, baseball players, and celebrities,

The interior is on the spacious side, with group seating and private rooms good for family gatherings or work dinners, and the open kitchen makes it feel clean and well-managed. Even on a weekday evening the place was packed!

They've also opened a Suseong branch now, so people living around Suseong-gu or Dong-gu don't need to come all the way to Banwoldang — nice! They also sell mealkits, so you can get a taste of this Banwoldang restaurant at home too!

Menu and prices

Menu board listing fire-grilled oje-bokkeum and galbi

The menu is super simple! Fire-grilled oje-bokkeum, bujasikdang galbi, squid stir-fry, and pork stir-fry — with prices coming out to about 14,000 won per person, which feels reasonable for the portion size. Personally I thought the oje-bokkeum and galbi were the best.

Fresh lettuce and side dish lineup

This Banwoldang restaurant serves a really varied lineup of side dishes — cabbage salad, fried chili leaves, stir-fried potatoes, pickled onions, chili peppers, ssamu radish, wrap vegetables and more. Even with such a generous main dish, the side dish lineup is pretty solid too!

And now for the main event haha — oje-bokkeum, packed with smoky flavor! It's squid and pork stir-fried together, and according to the owner, the dish was actually born because customers kept ordering squid and pork mixed together.

The seasoning isn't heavy or particularly spicy — instead, the pork and squid are stir-fried generously without skimping on ingredients, so the portion is huge, and every single bite hits you with that irresistible smoky char! Both the meat and squid have a tender texture, and it's delicious wrapped in lettuce or paired with ssamu radish too.

Last time I had the galbi, and this time I tried the oje on the owner's recommendation — the kind of place I keep coming back to, a true, true local favorite..!

By the end I'd mixed it all into the rice and scraped the bowl clean, haha. It's that good — my husband gets excited whenever I say I'm going to Bujasikdang, both for the flavor and the generous portions, making it a real oasis of comfort for a working couple like us! The staff were friendly and quick with the takeout order too, so I didn't have to wait long before bringing it home to eat. 😁👍
