Couple set lunch date at Bangi-dong sushi restaurant: Susi Seon Bangi

In short

Susi Seon Bangi Branch is a sushi and pork cutlet restaurant that has held the same spot in the Bangi-dong food alley in Songpa, Seoul for over 10 years. For a late Sunday lunch, the couple ordered the couple set (for 2) at ₩38,000, which came as a full course: pre-meal bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles) and vegetable porridge, 8 kinds of assorted sushi (16 pieces), 3 kinds of housemade pork cutlet, and a small udon. Both the value and the composition were satisfying enough that the writer's partner declared they'd be back.

Last Sunday for lunch, my partner and I were weirdly in sync — we both woke up craving good sushi! I searched around for where to go, and found a verified sushi and pork cutlet spot that's been running in the same spot in the Bangi-dong food alley for over 10 years. No hesitation, we went straight there. It's Susi Seon Bangi Branch! 🍣

It was a satisfying lunch date that reminded me once again — places that survive in the same spot for a long time always have a reason. 🩵

Susi Seon Bangi Branch location, hours, and parking

The address is 37 Olympic-ro 32-gil, 1st floor, Songpa-gu, Seoul (Bangi-dong 102-12). It's about a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Mongchontoseong Station (Line 8), or about 8 minutes from Exit 10 of Jamsil Station (Lines 2/8), located right on the main street of the Bangi-dong food alley.

Hours are daily 11:30–22:00, with a break time from 15:00–17:00, and last order at 21:30.

There's no dedicated parking for the restaurant, so I'd recommend public transit. If you're driving, use one of the paid private parking lots in the Bangi-dong food alley or the Olympic Park public parking lot.

Fully booked even for a late Sunday lunch — we got the bar seats

The moment we walked in, the owner greeted us so kindly and warmly that I felt great right from the start! 😊 Even though we came a bit late for Sunday lunch, the place was already full — no surprise for a spot that's been a beloved neighborhood favorite in Bangi-dong for this long! Luckily, a seat had just opened up at the bar-style counter, so we got lucky and sat down with no wait at all. 🍀

What's in the couple set (for 2) at ₩38,000

After sitting down and thinking over what to order, we went with the couple set (for 2) — apparently the most popular option thanks to its solid composition!

  • One-pick: Couple set (for 2) ₩38,000
  • Assorted sushi + housemade pork cutlet + small udon
  • Pre-meal service: bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles) & vegetable porridge

A thoughtful pre-meal service to whet your appetite (bibim guksu + vegetable porridge)

After ordering, the bibim guksu and vegetable porridge came out first! True to the couple set spirit, every side dish and pre-meal item was neatly prepared in pairs of two. A warm, gentle spoonful of vegetable porridge followed by the sweet-and-tangy bibim guksu really got us excited for the main course.

At this point my adorable partner cracked me up by insisting on helping with the photos, carefully framing every shot of the food! He secretly loves being my little photo assistant, and it made the whole shoot way more fun. Haha 🩵

Visual explosion! A generous assorted sushi platter, 8 kinds (16 pieces total)

Finally, the main event arrived — the assorted sushi, beautifully plated on a wooden board! There were 8 different kinds of fresh sushi, exactly 2 pieces each, so perfect for sharing without any fighting over who gets what. Let me walk you through them from left to right!

  • Flounder sushi 🐟: chewy and clean-tasting, a classic flounder
  • Salmon sushi 🧡: melts softly in your mouth
  • Tuna sushi ❤️: savory with gorgeous deep-red color
  • Shrimp sushi 🍤: plump, springy texture that's hard to resist
  • Soy-marinated shrimp sushi 🤎: salty and packed with umami
  • Smoked duck sushi 🌱: full of chewy texture
  • Egg sushi 💛: sweet and soft Japanese-style rolled egg
  • Tako wasabi sushi 🖤: a gunkan roll with a punchy kick

As if our tastes were completely in sync once again, we both reached for the savory tuna sushi first and shouted "Cheers!" to kick off the meal. The fish was thick and the rice seasoning was just right, filling our mouths with happiness! 🍣✨

Crispy-outside, juicy-inside pork cutlets in 3 varieties & steaming small udon

Plated set of 3 kinds of housemade pork cutlet

Cross-section of loin cutlet and vegetable cutlet

Just because the pork cutlet comes included in a set menu doesn't mean it's an afterthought here! Susi Seon Bangi Branch serves pork cutlets that the owner makes by hand, and the set comes with a well-rounded mix of three kinds: classic loin cutlet, vegetable cutlet, and cheese cutlet!

The cheese cutlet was the one both of us reached for first! The moment we picked it up with chopsticks to dip it in sauce, an incredible amount of gooey mozzarella cheese came pouring out! Crispy on the outside and packed with meat on the inside — the quality rivaled that of a dedicated specialty pork cutlet restaurant. 👍

Small udon served to finish the meal

To finish, the piping-hot small udon had springy noodles and a deep broth that cleanly reset the palate, perfectly rounding out the combination of pork cutlet and sushi. 🍲

Final thoughts

Full and happy, my partner kept saying, "We're definitely coming back here!" and praised the value and composition non-stop, practically talking my ear off all day. 🤣

We're definitely coming back here!

For a reasonable ₩38,000, we got a full course experience — pre-meal bibim guksu and porridge, 16 pieces of sushi, high-quality housemade assorted pork cutlets, and udon on top. If you're looking for a satisfying, great-value lunch spot near the Bangi-dong food alley, or a sushi and Japanese-style date course in Bangi-dong, be sure to check out the 10-year veteran Susi Seon Bangi Branch! 🩵
