I got a recommendation for a place with delicious drinking snacks where you can have a light drink, so I went to Yukhoe Maltuout Paju Yadang Branch. There are plenty of great restaurants and bars around Yadang, but that day I wanted something clean and simple — yukhoe (raw seasoned beef) and yuksashimi (raw beef sashimi) — and I was pleasantly surprised by both the atmosphere and the menu lineup.

Parking and atmosphere
The building has its own parking lot, so it's convenient even if you drive. Of course, if you're planning to drink, it's best to leave the car at home 😎

The overall vibe was cozy and comfortable, making it easy to chat over drinks. It wasn't the loud, rowdy type of place — more suited to slowly focusing on the food and sipping a drink, which felt like a great fit for anyone looking for a Yadang bar.

Minari (water dropwort), garlic chives, beef liver, tripe — all things that are good for you, so you can eat without any guilt haha.

One thing that's surprisingly important at places like this is the wet towel — instead of the usual thin one, they had a nice thick towel ready, which made me feel they paid attention to even the small details.

The ₩58,000 One Out Set
True to the name Yukhoe Maltuout, yukhoe and sashimi are the stars here.

I ordered the One Out Set, a discounted, well-rounded combo where you can enjoy beef sashimi, yukhoe, and beef ramyeon (spicy noodle soup) together.

It comes with porridge, salad, tripe, and liver as basic sides, but on my visit the liver had all sold out, so only tripe was served. I don't usually eat liver anyway, so it actually worked out fine 🤭

That was the first time I'd seen tripe sliced this thin and clean — it had a satisfyingly chewy, crunchy texture.

Achilles beef sashimi, wrapped with seaweed, pear, and cheese
The beef sashimi that came out first looked great from the color alone, and being sliced to just the right thickness made the texture stand out even more.
The cut I had that day was achilles (sadae), and its distinctive chewy texture was really good.
It comes with cheese, seaweed, minari salad, and pear to eat alongside the sashimi, which made for a fun way to mix and match.

While looking into good yukhoe spots near Unjeong, I found out that Yukhoe Maltuout doesn't just use one single cut like typical yukhoe-only restaurants — they use several different cuts for both yukhoe and sashimi, so you can taste the difference in texture and flavor depending on the cut.

I tried putting the beef sashimi on seaweed, then wrapping it up with pear, cheese, and minari salad — and this combo was genuinely delicious!!! The chewy sashimi combined with the soft sweetness of the pear and cheese kept me reaching for more. One bite and you're immediately thinking about the next drink — I'd recommend this to anyone who loves this kind of dish while looking for a Yadang bar.

Yukhoe with seasoning that isn't overdone
The yukhoe is already seasoned, so it's never bland, but it's not overly sweet either — a perfect drinking snack. You can really taste the meat's flavor and texture without the seasoning overpowering it, the kind of style that keeps you going back for more. One bite of yukhoe, one sip of a drink~

If you're searching for good yukhoe near Unjeong, eating the yukhoe on its own is great, but I'd also recommend ordering the beef sashimi alongside it so you can enjoy a variety of textures.

While I was eating, takeout and delivery orders kept coming in nonstop. Freshness really matters for dishes like yukhoe and beef sashimi, so seeing steady takeout and delivery orders on top of dine-in customers made me think this place is popular for good reason.

Finishing with beef ramyeon
I wrapped things up with beef ramyeon. It has actual beef in it, and after eating yukhoe and beef sashimi, having a hot, spicy broth really settled my stomach 🥹

The noodles were cooked to a nice chewy texture, right up my alley — and I think a good drinking session really needs a broth dish to feel complete.

If you love yukhoe and beef sashimi, you'll especially enjoy this place! Whether you're after good yukhoe near Unjeong or a comfortable, easygoing Yadang bar, I'd recommend trying the set menu 💕
