Mangwon Station café for decaf coffee and matcha cheesecake: PICT
In short
PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch is a roastery café 387m from Exit 2 of Mangwon Station in Mapo, Seoul, set one floor below ground — go around the right side of the building and down. On a late visit the order was a Kyoto matcha Basque cheesecake at 7,500 won, an americano with the chocolate-nutty blend and a decaf latte, for 18,900 won in total. The matcha and cheese matched beautifully at PICT Roastery, so a return visit is likely, though the cheesecake slice was small.

Here's my trip to PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch, a roastery café near Mangwon Station ☕

I love matcha, so when I heard they had a matcha Basque cheesecake instead of a regular one, I was curious and had to check it out!

PICT Roastery menu and prices: what was ordered
At PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch I ordered the Kyoto matcha Basque cheesecake (₩7,500), an americano (₩4,900), and a café latte (₩5,500). They also had a Kyoto matcha latte (₩7,000) and aged French toast (₩11,900).

- Café latte (₩5,500) ← ordered
- Kyoto matcha Basque cheesecake (₩7,500) ← ordered
- Kyoto matcha latte (₩7,000)
- Aged French toast (₩11,900)

Decaf is +₩1,000, and takeout gets you ₩1,000 off. Since it was pretty late, I ordered one coffee decaf and one with the chocolate-nutty blend. Total came to ₩18,900.
Choosing between two coffee beans for the americano
At PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch, you can pick your beans for the americano — the nutty chocolate-nutty blend (Yemen Mocha, Guatemala) or the more acidic floral blend (Ethiopia).
- Chocolate-nutty blend (Yemen Mocha, Guatemala) — the nutty option
- Floral blend (Ethiopia) — the acidic option
Just pick based on whether you like acidity or nuttiness. Note that if you order decaf, you can't choose the bean, so keep that in mind!
How does the Kyoto matcha Basque cheesecake taste?
The Kyoto matcha Basque cheesecake (₩7,500) had a moist interior with a slightly firm, dense outer texture.

I tried it and it was so good. Moist inside, slightly firm outside — I really liked that combination. It had a melt-in-your-mouth texture that went perfectly with the cheesecake.

The matcha flavor was pretty strong too, and combined with the cheesecake, the cheesecake's own richness came through even more.

If you love matcha, you absolutely have to try this! Matcha and cheese go together way better than I expected!!!
Iced americano and decaf iced latte at PICT Roastery
The drinks at PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch were nutty and tasted great. Coffee shops these days really do seem to have leveled up across the board.
Personally, I think the Guatemala bean tastes better than the decaf! I've heard coffee experts tend to prefer the acidic ones... guess I'm still a coffee newbie haha;;

Attaching photos of the exterior and entrance so you can find it easily!!

Is PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch worth a visit?
Even though PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch is in the basement, it has big windows so it doesn't feel stuffy, and there were quite a lot of seats. The one letdown was that the matcha Basque cheesecake slice was small.
What was good about PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch
- Even in the basement, big windows let you see the street — no cramped feeling at all
- It's an open kitchen, so you can see everything, which was nice
- Plenty of seating, so unless it's a busy time it shouldn't be hard to get a spot
- The matcha Basque cheesecake is genuinely delicious
What was disappointing
- The matcha Basque cheesecake was so good but the portion was small — a bit of a bummer ㅠㅠ
💡 The address shows as 1st floor, but the shop is actually in the basement. Go around the right side of the building and head down. Takeout gets you ₩1,000 off, so it's a good option too!
