Apparently it's a taste that's been going strong for 47 years, so my expectations went up even before eating haha

Table tablet showing how to enjoy kalguksu properly

The tablet even had a guide on how to enjoy kalguksu properly, so give it a read haha. Small plates, wet wipes, and rice are all self-serve from the bar!

Individually wrapped utensils and table setting

The individually wrapped utensils felt hygienic, and little details like that just made me happier.

How the kalguksu, gyoza dumplings and kimchi taste

A bowl of kalguksu at Gangnam Gyoja Bundang Seohyeon Branch

The signature kalguksu had a totally different charm from Myeongdong Gyoja! The broth is deep and rich, so it's delicious right off the bat ㅜㅜ My partner, who loves spicy food, said it tasted even better with the chili paste on the table, while I, a total spice lightweight, still got a huge hit of savory umami eating it plain hahaha.

A plate of 10 gyoza dumplings

The dumplings were the definition of classic steamed dumplings! One plate comes with 10 pieces, and biting into one made the juices burst out. Two bowls of kalguksu and one plate of dumplings between two people was the perfect amount to leave us full.

Kimchi served alongside the kalguksu

The kimchi — the true finishing touch of any kalguksu restaurant! Sometimes you get kimchi that's painfully spicy, but this one was just the right refreshing kind of spicy and paired perfectly with the noodles.
