Even when I'm just grabbing a coffee, these days I want more than plain coffee — I want a good latte and a dessert to go with it. So while I was out near Yangjae Stream, I stopped by Mini Male Coffee Roasters Yangjae Main Branch, which I'd heard has both great coffee and great desserts.

The name alone sounds like they're serious about coffee, haha. I love a good latte, so I walked in with high expectations.

The space has a modern, clean feel. It's not a huge sprawling café, but it's cozy and comfortable enough to relax with a coffee. And the moment I walked in, the smell of coffee just drifted through the air — that kind of smell instantly puts you in a good mood, haha.

The four things ordered at Mini Male Yangjae
Helsinki Latte ICE / Butter salt bread / Handmade NY cookie Dark S'more / Portuguese-style egg tart

What I picked that day was the Helsinki Latte ICE (₩5,200), butter salt bread (₩3,500), handmade NY cookie Dark S'more (₩4,500), and the Portuguese-style egg tart (₩2,800). I actually hesitated a bit looking at the menu, but since the Helsinki Latte is the signature drink, I ordered it without a second thought, haha.

How does the Helsinki Latte ICE (5,200 won) taste?
The signature Helsinki Latte ICE at Mini Male Yangjae is ₩5,200. Finally, the Helsinki Latte arrived! I ordered it iced, and the first sip was way smoother than I expected.
If you're a latte lover, I think you'll really like this soft, smooth texture.

The nutty flavor of the milk comes through first, followed by a subtle sweetness, so it's easy to drink without feeling heavy. I prefer coffee that's nutty and smooth over anything with strong acidity, and this one really suited my taste.

Best of all, it wasn't the kind of coffee where bitterness suddenly hits you — it went down smoothly, which I really liked. A sip of latte, then a bite of salt bread — this combo is pretty great, haha.

Butter salt bread at 3,500 won with the Helsinki latte
Coffee without bread just feels incomplete, haha. So I picked the butter salt bread. The outside was baked to a golden brown with flecks of salt on top. One bite and the outside was crispy while the inside was chewy and moist — and the nutty flavor of the butter really came through.

Salt bread really needs that salty kick layered on top of the butter's richness to be good. Since the Helsinki Latte is soft and nutty, eating it with the salt bread created this continuous nutty flavor, haha. I'm a big fan of this kind of pairing.

Portuguese-style egg tart and dark s'more cookie at Mini Male
And one more thing I couldn't skip — the Portuguese-style egg tart at ₩2,800. I love egg tarts, so I grabbed one the moment I saw it in the case, haha. The pastry layers looked crisp and flaky on the outside, and the egg filling on top was baked to a nice golden color — I figured it'd be perfect with coffee.

One bite in, and beneath the crispy pastry layers was a soft, moist egg filling.
And finally, the dark s'more cookie! This one looks pretty substantial just from the visuals. A thick cookie topped with a toasted, golden marshmallow — you can practically feel the sweetness just looking at it, haha.
The marshmallow was wonderfully chewy. If you love sweet treats, I think you'll enjoy this cookie. I had it with the Helsinki Latte, and since the coffee was so smooth, the cookie's sweetness paired really well with it. If you're near Yangjae Citizen's Forest and craving a good latte, definitely stop by!!!
