₩7,900 kudzu naengmyeon discount by Dongtan Lake: Naengmyeon Gajun
In short
Naengmyeon Gajun Dongtan Main Branch is a Korean restaurant right in front of Dongtan Lake Park in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi, with floor-to-ceiling lake-view windows. The writer ordered the bibim kudzu naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) with soy sauce pork belly set, a kudzu naengmyeon, and steamed egg, enjoying both bibim and mul (broth) styles with the icy broth, while the restaurant was discounting kudzu naengmyeon by ₩4,000 to ₩7,900 as part of a KOSPI-index promotion until the index hits 10,000. A relaxed, wallet-friendly lunch spot to pair with a walk around the lake.

Floor-to-ceiling lake-view interior — what are the seats like?
A lush green lake-view interior

Located right in front of the lake park, Naengmyeon Gajun lets you dine looking out at the lush green lake through floor-to-ceiling windows. The 4–8 person tables have generous spacing, making it a great spot for families or group meals.

During the Luna Show, the place fills up to capacity — it's that popular. And now with the naengmyeon discount running, that's the icing on the cake.

The self-serve bar has extra side dishes and tableware, and since there are lots of families with babies, baby forks and spoons plus high chairs are also ready.
Menu options and what we ordered
The menu has kudzu naengmyeon, bibim naengmyeon, braised beef short ribs, soy sauce/gochujang pork belly, yukgaejang (spicy beef soup), galbitang (short rib soup), set menus, and side dishes like mandu (dumplings) and steamed egg.

Kudzu naengmyeon is discounted ₩4,000 to ₩7,900 until the KOSPI index reaches 10,000. You can't pass up a value deal like that.
Order details
- Bibim kudzu naengmyeon + soy sauce pork belly 17,000
- Kudzu naengmyeon 7,900
- Steamed egg 4,000
- Rice 1,500
This place is also famous for its braised short ribs after the naengmyeon, but they were sold out that day, sadly.

Once you order, a robot brings water and side dishes. The basic banchan were stir-fried fish cake, seasoned radish, and pickled radish.
How does the kudzu naengmyeon + soy sauce pork belly set taste?
Naengmyeon and pork, great value — kudzu naengmyeon + soy sauce pork belly

The soy sauce pork belly was stir-fried with vegetables over high heat — a bulgogi-style dish with a nice balance of subtle char flavor and savory sauce.

The sauce was mildly sweet and savory-salty without being overpowering, the meat had zero gamey smell and was tender, and it went well either with the naengmyeon or with rice.

If you're dining with kids, piling this meat on a bowl of rice would make for a bowl they'd polish off in no time.

The bibim naengmyeon in the set comes with an icy broth on the side, so you can enjoy both bibim (mixed) and mul (broth) styles — a nice touch.

A generous mound of kudzu noodles topped with plenty of red sauce, cucumber, and boiled egg — the bibim naengmyeon looked appetizing from the first glance.

The red sauce looks fiery, but the taste wasn't spicy at all — a well-balanced sweet-and-tangy flavor with just the right amount of heat, easy for spice wimps to enjoy without worry. The chewy, springy texture of the kudzu noodles was also great.

Make sure to pair it with the pickled radish. I kept going back for more! When the noodles run low, pour in the icy broth and eat it as mul naengmyeon — it's refreshing and adds even more savory depth.

The steamed egg came in a glass dish instead of a clay pot — soft and fluffy, it immediately made me think of kids. I personally like that it's served this way, since there can be detergent residue issues with clay pots.
Refreshing, clean mul naengmyeon

The mul (broth) naengmyeon has bibim sauce on top of the icy broth, though you can ask to leave it off when ordering.

Since it's meant as a full meal, the noodle portion is substantial — I thought, 'can naengmyeon really fill me up?' but it did, haha.

The broth was deep and clean with a subtle savoriness, and the finish was crisp — really good. I prefer the natural taste of the ingredients over anything too strong, so I ate it without adding any other sauce. I never realized kudzu noodles could taste this good until this place.
Overall verdict
A great place to stop by before or after a walk around the lake park for an affordable, satisfying meal.
