Where is Migang Sikdang, and what time do you avoid the wait?
Migang Sikdang is a charcoal-grilled Korean BBQ restaurant 678m from Exit 4 of Samjeon Station in Jamsil, at the U-turn near the Asia Seonsuchon Apartment intersection. It's open daily from 11:30 to 23:00 with a break time from 15:00 to 16:30, though there's no break time on weekends and holidays.
Today I visited a BBQ spot near Samjeon Station in Jamsil — Migang Sikdang.

I deliberately went at an off-peak time — 4pm on a busy weekend — and got in with no wait. But by around 4:30, people started pouring in and the place was full. That's how you know it's a good spot, haha🤔

Parking and the waiting area at Migang Sikdang
Migang Sikdang lets you use the Seonghyeon Church World Parking lot, with room for about 30 cars. No matter how good a restaurant is, I tend to skip it if there's no parking — so having plenty of parking here was a huge plus. There's space for around 30 cars between the surface lot and basement.

Takeout is available too, apparently.

There's a game machine and a bike set up so you don't get bored while waiting.

Inside Migang Sikdang: seating and table amenities
There are plenty of tables inside Migang Sikdang, and the spacing between them is generous, so we could eat comfortably.

Each table has a T-order tablet for easy ordering. Underneath it there's a bin with individually packaged mustard, salt, wasabi, sesame oil and other sauces.

We wanted to try a variety, so we ordered the 3-person set.

There's even a spot on the table for storing your phone. At BBQ places your phone often ends up covered in grease, so having this space was such a nice touch. It's these little details that show they really think about the guests.

Self-serve bar and free wrap vegetable refills
Migang Sikdang has a separate self-serve bar, so you can refill lettuce wraps freely without feeling self-conscious. The vegetables are sourced directly by the owner from Garak Market, and you could really see how fresh each one was.
There are even aprons set up near the air conditioner.

A whole scallion among the free side dishes
After we paid and waited a bit, the basic side dishes were set out one by one. Looking them over, these colorful 8 kinds of lettuce wrap greens caught my eye, but the one that stood out most was...

This whole scallion!!!!! It was my first time getting a whole long scallion at a restaurant, so it was such a fun surprise😆😆 We cut it up and grilled it enthusiastically.
The 3-person set: pre-grilled pork jowl, samgyeopsal and pork neck
What left the biggest impression at Migang Sikdang was this griddle. The side griddle was packed full of egg custard, corn cheese, garlic and kimchi, which made it fun both to look at and to eat.
It was also great that the staff pre-grilled the meat for us. After cutting everything into bite-sized pieces, they moved the meat onto the griddle, so all we had to do was wait a little and dig in — so convenient.
The first thing they put on the griddle was pork jowl! It had that distinctively chewy yet springy texture along with a rich, savory flavor spreading through it — so good.

I'm not sure what sauce this was, but it was delicious. Even dipping generously, it wasn't too salty and had a deep umami flavor that kept me reaching for more😋

Right as we were finishing the pork jowl, they put juicy pork belly and tender pork neck on the griddle too. Eating just one cut the whole time can get a little repetitive, but switching between cuts kept the textures interesting and let us enjoy it all the way through.

They grill round little cherry tomatoes too🍅

Corn cheese and egg custard on the side griddle
This was my first time pairing pork belly with corn cheese, and adding sweet corn cheese to the juicy meat was so good.

This egg custard was fluffy and tasty, so it disappeared quickly, but the staff came around and refilled the egg mixture for us🥚

Normally I don't even touch namul (seasoned vegetable side dishes), but somehow when I'm eating meat I always end up piling them on.
And you can't skip a generous wrap either✨️

Free corkage, and beer served in an ice bucket
Migang Sikdang is colkage-free, so apparently you can bring your own drinks and enjoy them without worry. We ordered beer and it came in this ice bucket. It was great being able to drink it cold all the way to the end😆

Grilling pork skin usually means it pops and splatters like popcorn, which is a hassle, but having it pre-grilled here was such a relief😆

Of course pork skin has to be dipped in soybean powder. The chewy skin with the nutty soybean powder — how could you resist that combo.
To finish: bibim naengmyeon and soft-serve ice cream
Bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) for dessert
We debated between fried rice and cold noodles, and ended up ordering bibim naengmyeon for dessert!

Icy broth, pear, cucumber, egg, radish toppings, and a spicy-tangy sauce🌟 It was cool and refreshing — the perfect way to finish the meal.
Before leaving, I registered for parking myself at a self-service kiosk. Parking is free for up to 2 hours, with a ₩1,000 charge for every extra 15 minutes after that.

I finished off with the soft-serve ice cream by the entrance. This place... is also an ice cream spot👍
The staff were kind and the set menu was great, so I left very satisfied with this BBQ spot near Samjeon Station/Jamsil Sports Complex — Migang Sikdang!
