I heard this place manages everything — aging, trimming, handling — through its own Gogi 9dan system, so I went in with high expectations :)
It also seemed like a solid pick for family meals, friend gatherings or work dinners since it's built for groups, so I wanted to introduce it to anyone looking for good restaurants in Buk-gu, Daegu ✨

What the restaurant looks like from the street

The Gogi 9dan sign on the building's exterior is big enough to spot from far away! There's also a large menu photo posted out front, so passersby can tell what kind of place it is at a glance 👀 The entrance is up a short flight of stairs at the front of the building, and there's a Gogi 9dan sign right at the stairway entrance too, so it wasn't hard to find at all :)

Parking at Gogi 9dan in Chimsan-dong
What I liked most was the parking! 🚗 There's a spacious lot beneath the building — you can tell it's pretty roomy even from the photos, right?! Having plenty of parking made it stress-free to come by car, so if you're looking for a barbecue place in Chimsan-dong with easy parking, this is worth noting 🤎
What is the interior and group seating like?
Walking into Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch, I was surprised at how much bigger it was than I expected! The overall wood-tone interior paired with green sofas gave it a warm, comfortable vibe, and each table had generous space around it 🤎
They have everything from 2–4 person tables to larger seating for bigger groups, so it seemed great for family meals, friend gatherings or work dinners! For group areas in particular, they lower blinds to section off the space! That made dining with a group feel a bit more private, which I appreciated 🤎
They also had baby chairs ready, so it would work well for visiting with kids too!! It's a comfortable space for chatting and eating meat together at work dinners, family gatherings or group meals with friends, so if you're looking for a group dinner spot in Chimsan-dong, this is worth checking out :)

Menu and prices: skirt steak platter and 9-step set
Ordering was easy through the table-order tablet at each table! I could take my time browsing the menu and order right away without needing to call over staff — very convenient ☺️ We ordered the skirt steak platter (₩108,000) + 9-step set (₩18,000) + Sprite (₩2,000) 🥩✨

Underneath the table, all the tableware we needed was neatly set up! Cups, side plates, utensils, plus aprons and wet wipes were all ready to grab, which was really convenient ☺️
The side dishes served before the beef
I was surprised to see the table already packed with banchan (side dishes) before the meat even came out! 👀 There was japchae, various namul (seasoned vegetables), kimchi, salad and plenty of sides that go well with meat 🤎 Everything was plated neatly and there was so much variety that picking at the sides while waiting for the meat was fun in itself haha. Honestly, the banchan alone were tasty enough to finish a whole bowl of rice lol 🤤

How the skirt steak platter tasted, and what comes with it
Finally, the skirt steak platter we ordered arrived! At a glance the portion was generous, with vivid color and marbling that made my mouth water just looking at it 🤤 There was a whole king oyster mushroom placed in the center, which looked perfect for grilling alongside the meat! Time to put it on the grill and cook it up.

I picked up a nicely browned piece, dipped it in salt and had a bite — you could really taste the meat's natural flavor, so good! I also tried it with the onion sauce, and then together with my favorite pa-kimchi (green onion kimchi). Meat plus pa-kimchi is unbeatable 🥹💚 Rotating between salt, onion sauce and pa-kimchi kept things interesting the whole way through — I couldn't stop reaching for more!

What comes in the 18,000 won 9-step set?
While we were still eating the skirt steak, suddenly a whole new spread of food showed up?! Haha I'd actually forgotten we'd ordered the 9-step set since the banchan alone was already so filling 😂 But it turned out the 9-step set was really packed with good stuff! Beef tartare, jjolmyeon (spicy cold noodles), wasabi sushi rice and kimchi jjigae all arrived at once, giving us way more variety than just eating meat alone 🤤 I was especially excited that the tartare uses hanwoo (Korean beef)!

Haha the table was seriously groaning under all the food 🤣🤣 Seeing it all laid out together made it look even more abundant, right?! With the grill going, plus the banchan, skirt steak and now the 9-step set piling up one by one, the table was completely full haha. That's more than enough for two people to eat well 🤤🥩 Seeing it all together, I totally get why the 9-step set is so popular! ✨
The jjolmyeon combo I remember most
My personal favorite was this jjolmyeon! The tangy, spicy sauce really woke up my appetite 🤤

The jjolmyeon was tasty on its own, but topping it with a piece of well-grilled meat made the combo amazing! 🥩🔥 I also tried it with beef tartare on top, and haha, the spicy-tangy noodles with the soft tartare worked so much better than I expected — I kept eating it that way. Of everything I had that day, the jjolmyeon combo was the one that stuck with me the most! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Yukhoe sushi and yangnyeom gejang (seasoned raw crab)
Can't skip the tartare sushi 🤤🍣 I piled beef tartare on top of the wasabi sushi rice and took a bite — genuinely delicious! The chewy texture of the tartare paired surprisingly well with the rice and wasabi, and eating a piece here and there between bites of meat really refreshed my palate haha. Definitely try the tartare + wasabi rice combo! 🥹❤️
There was already plenty to eat, but I couldn't resist once I saw the gejang (marinated crab)! The sauce looked so well soaked in, it was hard to hold back ㅠㅠ I picked the meat out and took a bite — the sweet-spicy sauce with the chewy crab meat was so good 🤤 Eating gejang alongside the barbecue really made the menu feel that much more well-rounded haha.

Dessert corner and final verdict on Gogi 9dan Chimsan
On the way out after finishing our meal, I was happy to find a dessert corner set up! There was iced coffee, drinks like plum tea, and a variety of light snacks to grab ☺️ After eating so much meat, wrapping up with a cool cup of plum tea was just perfect 🤎
Overall, Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch was a great choice for family meals, friend gatherings or work dinners thanks to its spacious dining room and ample parking! The banchan spread was generous from the start, the skirt steak we ordered was delicious, and the 9-step set was so well put together that the two of us left completely full 🤤 In particular, the combo of jjolmyeon with grilled meat or tartare was so good that I know I'll keep thinking about it haha ❤️
With table ordering, a serving robot, baby chairs and a dessert corner, the amenities made the whole meal comfortable, and being able to section off space with blinds for group visits was a nice touch for more privacy! If you're looking for a hearty meat meal in Buk-gu or Chimsan-dong, Daegu, I'd recommend Gogi 9dan Chimsan Direct Branch 🥩✨
