A Goseong-dong restaurant where you can enjoy charcoal-grilled pork belly and beef skirt meat alongside cheese scallops, all in one sitting.

Today I'm bringing you my review of Sangnok Hoegwan Yeontan Gui Goseong Branch, which I visited for a meat feast in Goseong-dong, Daegu. Located near Bukguchung Station, this branch lets you enjoy both meat and seafood together — unlike a typical Korean BBQ place that only serves meat, they also have scallops, half-shell clams, and octopus on the menu, so it's a great spot to try several things at once. I ordered two servings of pork belly, two servings of beef skirt meat, and the cheese scallops.
Parking and atmosphere at Sangnok Hoegwan Goseong Branch
Right behind the restaurant, through the alley, there was a wide yard-style parking area. It's not visible from the main street, so you have to go into the alley to find the entrance leading to the yard. If it's your first visit, I'd recommend checking the location beforehand so it's easier to find.

The exterior was easy to spot from a distance thanks to the large sign reading Sangnok Hoegwan.

Inside, there were several round and square tables, and plenty of customers were already eating when I visited. The large front window was left wide open, giving it a slightly outdoor-tent feel. Even indoors, it didn't feel stuffy at all — a good bar-like atmosphere near Bukguchung Station for meat and drinks.

One thing that set it apart from a typical Korean BBQ restaurant was the seafood tank on one side of the dining room. Inside, live shrimp were actually moving around, along with scallops and other seafood.
Sangnok Hoegwan Goseong Branch menu and prices

Ordering was easy through the tablet on the table. Pork options included pork belly, pork neck, skirt meat, cartilage rib, and beef tripe, while beef options ranged from beef skirt meat to LA-style short ribs, heart, and beef tripe. Meat dishes could be ordered in additional 100g portions, which made it easy to try a little of several cuts. Seafood options were just as varied — scallops, half-shell clams, abalone, stuffed octopus skewers, grilled squid — and I ended up ordering two servings of pork belly, two servings of beef skirt meat, and the cheese scallops.
The drink menu was also extensive, so this would suit anyone looking for a Bukguchung Station restaurant and bar to pair meat and seafood with a drink.
What is on the self bar, and how the receipt review event works

There was also a separate self-serve bar in one corner of the restaurant. Lettuce, perilla leaves, scallions, along with kimchi, garlic, onion, chili, and ssamjang (Korean dipping sauce) were all available to grab as much as you needed.
The tabletop tablet also had information about a receipt review event. Writing a receipt review let you choose between doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) or hangover ramyeon. There were also separate coupons on Naver Place — when I checked, there was a pork skin coupon and a doenjang jjigae coupon. Event details and coupons can change depending on when you visit, so it's worth checking Naver Place before heading over.

After ordering, the charcoal grill and basic side dishes arrived first. The banchan (side dishes) included kimchi and bean sprouts meant to be eaten with the grilled meat, along with spicy radish salad, soy-marinated onions, lettuce wraps, scallion salad, pickled radish, ssamjang, wasabi, and garlic. Marshmallows for grilling at the end were also included, which was a fun little touch.

The two servings each of pork belly and beef skirt meat, plus the cheese scallops, all arrived together. Pork belly was ₩6,500 per 100g, beef skirt meat was ₩8,900 per 100g, and the cheese scallops were ₩17,000. With the cheese scallops added alongside all the meat, the whole spread looked pretty generous haha.
Beef galbisal (short rib meat), 8,900 won per 100g

First up, the beef skirt meat. I got a bit of video of it too.

It was cut to just the right thickness, making it easy to lay pieces on the grill one at a time, and it looked delicious as the surface browned over the charcoal. Dipped lightly in salt, the flavor of the meat really came through — it was great.

Next, the two servings of pork belly! The thick-cut pork belly came with king oyster mushrooms branded with the Sangnok Hoegwan lettering, which caught my eye haha.

Slow-cooked over the charcoal, the pork belly browned nicely on the outside, and I cut it into bite-sized pieces to crisp it up a bit more. There's real enjoyment in grilling directly over charcoal, so this is worth a look for anyone searching for pork belly in Goseong-dong.
Cheese scallops, 17,000 won

And then the dish I'd been looking forward to — the cheese scallops! Piled high with cheese and drizzled with sauce, it looked really impressive the moment it arrived.
Placing each scallop on the grill let the cheese slowly melt and cover the whole shell, and scooping it up together with the scallop meat once the cheese had melted made for a nice change of pace between rounds of meat.
Finishing with hangover ramyeon and marshmallows
For the receipt review event, I could choose between doenjang jjigae or hangover ramyeon, and I went with the ramyeon. It was loaded with bean sprouts, which probably explained why the broth was refreshingly light — a nice way to finish off the meal. With hot broth and noodles together, it also seemed like it would work well as a hangover cure after a few drinks haha.
At the very end, I grilled marshmallows over the last of the charcoal. Turning them slowly until the outside browned made for a sweet finish after filling up on meat and seafood haha.
Is Sangnok Hoegwan Goseong Branch worth a visit in Daegu?
What I liked about Sangnok Hoegwan Yeontan Gui Goseong Branch was being able to enjoy meat like pork belly and beef skirt meat alongside seafood like cheese scallops, all in one place. There was real fun in grilling everything directly over charcoal, and adding the cheese scallops into the mix made the meal feel more varied than just eating meat the whole time.
With the front window left open for a slightly outdoor-tent feel, this place would suit anyone looking for pork belly or a meat restaurant in Goseong-dong, as well as those searching for a restaurant and bar near Bukguchung Station to enjoy meat and seafood with a drink. If you want to try several dishes together on a day when meat alone doesn't feel like enough, it's worth a visit!
