Late-night Wangsimni bakery café: flower-shaped egg tart at Eojil In
In short
Eojil In Wangsimni Station Branch is a bakery café just past Exit 6 of Wangsimni Station in Seongdong, Seoul, where a pastry chef bakes everything fresh each morning. Arriving at 8:30pm with a friend, the writer took the last free seat on the second floor and ordered the signature Basque cheesecake, a flower-shaped egg tart, an Americano and a decaf Americano. The cheesecake was dense yet soft and the egg tart crisp outside and moist inside, making Eojil In an easy late-evening dessert stop.

A bakery café favorite that bakes everything fresh every day: Eojil In

Eojil In Wangsimni Station Branch

Why we met at Eojil In in Wangsimni at 8:30pm
We were originally supposed to meet today, but suddenly the plan got moved up to yesterday. Siyeon, who couldn't make it to my wedding because of another commitment, wanted to see me in person to congratulate me, so we joined up in Wangsimni after a while apart.

TMI: this friend used to be a coworker of mine, and we've stayed close ever since. She's the smart one who worked full-time while also going to grad school 👩🏻🎓 — these days she's swamped writing her thesis, but she still made time to come see me?! We were too busy for a real meal so we decided to just grab a light drink together, and that's how we ended up at Eojil In.

First floor or second? Seats fill up at Eojil In even at night
Eojil In Wangsimni Station Branch has a 1st and 2nd floor, with seating available upstairs too. The stairs look a bit scary since you can see straight through underneath them, so climb carefully!
We met up around 8:30pm, and by then it seemed like a lot of people were already on their second stop of the night — there wasn't a single seat open?!

Eojil In has a 1st and 2nd floor, and when we went up to the 2nd floor there was literally just one seat left, so we managed to sit down!! This place must be seriously popular in Wangsimni~~ (the reason there's no one in the photo is because I took it after we'd finished eating and were about to leave)
How is the nearby bakery Small Eojil In different?
Attention, bread lovers!

Apparently there's a bakery near the Eojil In café called Small Eojil In. There they sell salt bread, jambon-beurre sandwiches, croissants, pain au chocolat, plain baguette, and chocolate baguette. All the bread is baked fresh by the pastry chef every morning under a same-day production rule, so it's known for freshness and quality. Group orders are possible too, and if you buy bread at Small Eojil In, you can eat it at the Eojil In café.

What we ordered: Basque cheesecake and flower-shaped egg tart
What we ordered was
- ✔️ Signature Basque cheesecake
- ✔️ Egg tart
- ✔️ Americano
- ✔️ Decaf Americano

Here comes our order! Siyeon went with decaf, I went with regular caffeine. Egg tart and Basque cheesecake.

What does Eojil In's signature Basque cheesecake taste like?
The first dessert we picked was the signature Basque cheesecake! It looked like this café bakes basque cheesecake the most out of everything, so I figured it had to be the signature item — and sure enough, it was!
I'm a total cheese fanatic, so if there's cheesecake on the menu, I'm ordering it no matter what. Eojil In's Basque cheesecake was better than I expected!! 🍰

The texture was what I liked first — it wasn't too dry, just the right amount of dense and soft. You could really taste the rich cheese flavor, but it wasn't heavy or greasy.
The flower-shaped egg tart at Eojil In
The second thing we picked was the egg tart! They're usually sold round, but Eojil In's egg tart is shaped like a flower, which caught my eye even more 👀
The outside was nutty with a nice texture, and inside was a moist, soft filling — nutty and sweet with a really lovely, soft texture.

Isn't the filling inside so glossy and pretty? It felt almost too pretty to eat like this lol. Usually when you order two desserts, one ends up being more to your taste and you keep reaching for that one, but this time both were so good I couldn't give either one up.

Is the coffee at Eojil In acidic?
You can't have two soft, delicious desserts without coffee to go with them! It's the kind of dessert that's great to eat slowly with coffee, and between chatting with my friend, we somehow finished everything in no time. Following the great bakery, the coffee was really delicious too!!! I like coffee without acidity, and this one was so nutty and tasty that before I knew it, only ice was left in my cup.
Is Eojil In worth a late-night visit?
