Suwon café with 2nd-floor work seats: Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters

Hi, this is Cat Cheesemom. I had a bank errand to run in Yeonghwa-dong today, and I also needed to get some work done on my laptop at a nearby café. Looking for a place good for working quietly alone with good coffee, I ended up visiting Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch, a well-known café near Suwon Hwaseong Fortress in Haenggung-dong, Suwon.

This is a café brand most Suwon residents would recognize — if you live in Suwon, you've probably visited it at least once, or at least heard of it. It's that famous.

What Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch feels like, and its no-kids-zone rule

Thanks to the hip interior, the main branch of Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters especially draws people in their 20s and 30s. I've been to other branches too, but the main branch's vibe is the best.

Operating as a no-kids-zone, the whole building here — from the basement floor to the 5th-floor rooftop — is essentially the café. And since this is the main branch, you can even see the roasting area.

There's a floor-to-ceiling window so you can watch the coffee being roasted, and today the machine was hard at work when I visited :)

Where to park near Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters in Haenggung-dong

Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch has no parking support, so you'll need to use nearby public parking lots. If you've spent time in Haengridan-gil, you'll know most shops here are converted single-family houses, and since it's such an old neighborhood, parking support is mostly unavailable. But since Haenggung-dong has plenty of public and private parking lots, weekdays are generally fine for parking!

Weekends are tough though, since Haenggung-dong and Haengridan-gil are such hot spots that finding a parking spot can be hard ㅠ_ㅠ Public transit is convenient, so keep that in mind~! For parking near this Haengridan-gil café favorite, Jeong Ji-young Coffee Haenggung Main Branch, try:

Ordering on basement level 1, plus the coffee goods to browse

At Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch, you order on the basement floor. Since it was my first time at the main branch, I got a little lost finding the entrance — but you order drinks and bakery items on the basement floor, and it's also fun to browse the various Jeong Ji-young Coffee branded goods sold there!

There was so much to look at that I browsed for a bit — cakes, sando (sandwich), madeleines and a few other desserts, cold brew, and various branded items like Jeong Ji-young Coffee's signature mugs.

Iced flat white, 6,000 won: nutty with no sourness

I ordered an iced flat white (₩6,000) and a madeleine (₩7,000).

After ordering, they put everything into a carrier tray like this~ It looked kind of like an egg carton, which I thought was cute. The design lets you carry the madeleine along easily too — it actually holds the cup so steadily that the drink doesn't tip over, which felt reassuring.

The signature coconut coffee, which they say has sold 1.11 million cups, was truly delicious when I had it before, but honestly, the flat white I tried on this visit was the best.

Since they roast their own beans here, the coffee is genuinely delicious~ It had really rich coffee with nutty milk, and the aroma and flavor were fantastic. No sourness at all, and very nutty!

2nd-floor work seats and the Haenggung-dong view from the 4th and 5th floors

I sat on the 2nd floor to work on my laptop. I'd read that the higher up you go, the better the Haenggung-dong view, but since I was on the 2nd floor, I didn't get the open view of Haenggung-dong. If a view matters to you, I'd recommend heading up to the 4th or 5th floor :)

The day I visited, as time went on I saw more and more couples who'd come for a Haenggung-dong date. With such a nice atmosphere, it seems to be a popular pick for Haenggung-dong date spots. It could work well as a stop on a Haenggung-dong date course too. Especially if you want a no-kids-zone café in Haenggung-dong, this place is solid (no entry under middle school age).
