Haenggung-dong sourdough café with Nodul milk tea: Caffeine Focus

Walking around Haenggung-dong, there are so many pretty cafés that it's honestly hard to pick one, haha. This time I skipped the coffee-only spots and went looking for a Haenggung-dong café-bakery with a good view and bakery items to go with the drinks.

The moment I walked in, the café turned out to be pretty spacious, and I liked that each floor had a slightly different mood. Most of all, the view of the Hwaseong Fortress walls through the window was genuinely beautiful. Sipping coffee while zoning out at the walls and the green scenery outside — I got a proper dose of healing that day :)

Caffeine Focus parking: how late is it free on weekdays?

Parking at Caffeine Focus is free in the space right in front of the café on weekdays from 9am to 6pm. After 6pm, though, it becomes a resident-priority parking zone, so I'd recommend double-checking the time before you park.

Rather than assuming it's free and leaving your car there, it's better to move it before 6pm rolls around. Parking stress is common in Haenggung-dong, so if you're visiting on a weekday afternoon, this is worth keeping in mind :)

Floors 1 to 3 at Caffeine Focus: pick the seat that suits you

Caffeine Focus has three floors total. The 1st floor has indoor seating plus a terrace where you can feel the outside air, so on a nice day sitting outdoors would be great too.

Each floor had a noticeably different seating vibe, which I personally liked. You can just pick whichever floor suits who you're with. The 2nd and 3rd floors especially caught my eye the moment I walked in, thanks to the big windows showing green scenery and Hwaseong Fortress. Sitting there in person felt even more open than it looks in photos. So if you're after a Hwaseong Fortress view café, the window seats are worth staking out, haha.

The 2nd floor, the easiest floor for a get-together

The 2nd floor of Caffeine Focus felt like it had a lot of table seating good for several people sitting together. It looked comfortable whether you're hanging out with friends in Haenggung-dong, on a date and chatting, or visiting in a larger group.

The natural light coming in through the full-length windows kept the space feeling bright and open rather than cramped. Outside, the fortress walls and grass come into full view at once, and it was nice getting to drink coffee with that kind of scenery in the middle of the city. I'd gotten a bit tired from walking around, and sitting down here to rest genuinely felt life-saving, haha.

The 3rd floor, for a quiet break

The 3rd floor, on the other hand, had a calmer mood! The seating setup seemed better suited to those who came alone for a coffee, or wanted to spend some quiet time to themselves.

If the 2nd floor feels like a good spot to chat with friends, the 3rd floor felt more like a comfortable place for solo visitors to settle in.

And on the opposite side, there was even a terrace table full of atmosphere. On cooler days, sitting there to soak in the Haenggung-dong mood would be lovely. Since each floor had a different feel, there was fun in choosing a seat to match your taste even within a single café :)

Caffeine Focus wasn't just about drinks and desserts — it was also a bakery café well worth visiting for anyone looking for sourdough in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. It felt less like a quick-coffee-and-go café and more like a place to sit back, take in the fortress view, and enjoy bakery items with your drink at a relaxed pace.

Walking around Haenggung-dong tires your legs out faster than you'd expect, haha. Having a good-view café like this to rest at partway through makes it a solid stop to add to a Haenggung-dong outing.

So we settled into the 2nd floor and ordered coffee along with a Basque cheesecake :)

Nodul milk tea, the owner's pick with a lift of peach

One of the drinks I ordered at Caffeine Focus was the Nodul milk tea! The first sip is soft, milky, and nutty, followed by a subtle peach flavor and black tea aroma. Milk teas can sometimes get tiring after a few sips if they're too sweet, but this one didn't just push sweetness — the balance between the tea aroma and milk was solid.

Being an iced milk tea, it tasted even better after a long walk around Haenggung-dong, haha. The lingering black tea aroma was subtle enough to pair well with dessert too. This was my first time trying a peach-flavored milk tea, and it was really good. I ordered it trusting it was the owner's pick, and I would've regretted skipping it! If you prefer soft drinks over strong coffee, this is one worth picking.

And personally, the einspänner paired nicely with dessert! The coffee underneath has a bitter, strong flavor, but the cream on top blends in smoothly and neutralizes it just right.

I tried it without stirring first — the fluffy, sweet cream hits first, followed by the coffee's bitterness, and I liked that order. The cream wasn't overly rich or heavy either, so I drank it comfortably to the last sip. Taking a bite of Basque cheesecake and a sip of the einspänner, the sweet, nutty flavor got cleaned up by the coffee afterward — the combination worked quite well.

And for dessert, the Basque cheesecake! The top was deeply charred, so it looked delicious even before I took a bite, haha. Inside, it was moist, and the rich, nutty cheese flavor filled my mouth.

Rather than a light, fluffy cheesecake, it leaned more toward a dense, fudgy style. The deeply caramelized flavor on the outside and the smooth, rich cheese flavor inside came through together, so even a small slice had real presence.

It wasn't a dessert that leaned purely on sugar — the cheese's nuttiness properly came through, which I liked. Paired with the milk tea, it made a soft, sweet overall combination; paired with the einspänner, the coffee's bitterness added a richer, more intense dessert combination. We enjoyed all three and finished everything, haha.

Overall, what I liked was that this wasn't just a pretty café for photos and leaving — it was genuinely a good place to sit and rest. The space is generous from the 1st to 3rd floor, and each floor has a slightly different mood, so it seemed good for anything from dates to friend gatherings to solo café time.

In particular, the green grass and Hwaseong Fortress wall scenery through the big windows never got old, no matter how long I looked at it. After walking around Haenggung-dong all day, resting here with a Nodul milk tea, an einspänner, and a Basque cheesecake gave me a proper break — a real bit of healing, haha.
