Gwangalli run + brunch for breakfast✨ An honest review of Famous Benny, a Millak-dong favorite

My friends and I formed a Busan running crew, ran 4km along Gwangalli, and had breakfast afterward at Famous Benny, a brunch café nearby. It was really popular and really delicious. It's the perfect spot to relax, watch the sea, and unwind over brunch — a Gwangalli spot I totally recommend.

Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch, gifting breakfast from 8am

Famous Benny is a brunch café built around Australian-style brunch, so you can really enjoy that vibe here. It opens earlier than most brunch cafés — from 8am — which makes it great for a quick early breakfast, or for a brunch-and-café visit like ours.

The Gwangalli running course: 4km from Samik Beach to Millak the Market

Running along Gwangalli means you get to watch the sea the whole time, so we said let's do 5km along the beach — but people kept dropping out along the way ...^_^ ㅋ.ㅋ We ran the Samik Beach to Millak the Market stretch, which ended up being about 4km. Such a fun run, followed by a delicious brunch.

What's on the menu?

Famous Benny, a Gwangalli brunch café favorite, has a really wide range of drinks and brunch dishes. They also sell premium Australian herbal teas, along with healthy fruit juices, gelato, smoothies, lattes, ades, and more.

At Famous Benny, an Australian-style brunch café, you can taste true Australian coffee flavor with Duke's beans. Of course they have the acai bowl and bacon egg roll you'd expect from an Australian café, plus a variety of toasts, Egg in Hell, salads, and soups.

Since they select and sell their own beans, this is a great Gwangalli café for coffee lovers too. When I visited, they had three origins: Colombia, Ethiopia, and Guatemala.

With a big group we ordered a wide variety, and everything was so good — very satisfying! Personally I loved the Egg in Hell and The Famous Benny. The Famous Benny comes on a croissant base with avocado and poached egg, so it's a hearty dish.

The acai bowl split opinions depending on your taste for peanut butter

The acai bowl had such a great look to it. It came topped with edible flowers, which made it even prettier. It tasted almost identical to the acai bowl I had with my boyfriend on a trip to Sydney, so I really enjoyed it. One small downside — purely personal taste — my boyfriend and I aren't fans of peanut butter, so that part wasn't our favorite, but my friend loves peanut butter and ate it up happily haha. If you like peanut butter, you'll enjoy this even more.

If you love vegetables, I recommend the rocket cheese toast! It's a vegetarian menu item, so veggie eaters will love it. The Egg in Hell sauce was so good my friends and I scraped the plate clean ㅋ.ㅋ When you order, staff bring the food right to your table, so you can just relax and eat where you're seated.

What are the second-floor and group seats like?

The second floor interior has such pretty seating. The whole café vibe is hip and full of character, great for a brunch gathering or a date. If two of you are visiting as a couple, I recommend this second-floor spot! The sunlight pours in warmly here, so it'd be lovely to sit and relax in fall or winter.

Here's the second-floor group seating and interior. There's a 6-seat table, convenient for group gatherings or visits, and the rest are 4-person tables with plenty of space.

By the second-floor stairs, blankets, water, plates, and wet wipes are all set out already, so you don't have to keep going back and forth. Baby chairs are available too, so parents visiting with a baby can relax and just take a seat. Famous Benny is a great Gwangalli brunch café to visit with a baby too.

What about the first floor, outdoor seats, and are dogs allowed?

On the left is the first-floor interior, and on the right is the outdoor space. On a nice day, eating outside would be lovely too, though the tables are a bit small, so if that bothers you, head inside instead. This is a dog-friendly brunch café in Gwangalli, and I really saw a lot of people bringing their dogs haha. Most visitors had their dogs with them, and since dogs are allowed indoors, feel free to bring your pup along comfortably.

How far is it from Gwangalli Beach?

It's within a 10-minute walk of Gwangalli Beach, so it's great for a brunch and stroll afterward. It was also the perfect spot to visit after our Gwangalli run, just like we did. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a simple brunch or breakfast.

Where should I park?

There's no dedicated parking lot, so I recommend the nearby Millak C Land Market public parking lot! Being a public lot, it's fairly cheap. It's about a 10-minute walk from the lot to Famous Benny, so you'll need to walk a bit. Rates at the Millak C Land Market public lot are ₩300 every 10 minutes, or ₩8,000 for a full day.
