Evening milmyeon restaurant in Seomyeon, Busan: Seomyeon Milmyeon

In short

Seomyeon Milmyeon is a milmyeon (wheat cold noodle) restaurant on the 1st floor of Eos Plaza, by Exit 8 of Seomyeon Station in Busanjin, Busan. An evening visit meant walking straight in with no wait for ice-flecked mul-milmyeon at 10,000 won and potato-skin dumplings at 7,500 won, and the 72-hour beef bone broth with its spicy, sour, sweet sauce carried the bowl. With 30 minutes of parking covered in the Eos Plaza lot, Seomyeon Milmyeon is an easy milmyeon stop to drive to in Seomyeon.

I was craving something cool, so I went to Seomyeon Milmyeon, a well-known Busan milmyeon (wheat cold noodle) restaurant, for ice-flecked mul-milmyeon in rich broth!

Where is Seomyeon Milmyeon and how do you get there?

Seomyeon Milmyeon is near Seomyeon Station. Come out Exit 8, go straight, and cross the big crosswalk at the intersection — it's right on the left. If you're taking the bus, get off at Jeonpo Elementary School or the (former) NC Seomyeon stop.

Parking and restrooms at Seomyeon Milmyeon

There aren't many restaurants with parking around Seomyeon or Jeonpo, so driving there is usually a pain, but Seomyeon Milmyeon has its own parking and even offers parking support — great! Park in the Eos Plaza building lot and you get 30 minutes free, so you can eat without stressing about your car ^.^

The restroom is in the shopping building — grab the key from the restaurant. It's unisex but reasonably clean.

Inside Seomyeon Milmyeon: is there a wait in the evening?

The restaurant is clean and fairly spacious. You order first at the entrance, then staff show you to your seat. Once you're seated, they bring you the broth, side dishes, and the noodles themselves — all you have to do is eat.

The menu is just milmyeon, and the food comes out fast, so table turnover is really quick. Even if there's a wait, it's manageable. I usually go for dinner, and in the evening there was no wait at all — I could eat right away!

If you need extra utensils, there's a self-serve bar for that.

Seomyeon Milmyeon menu and prices

The menu is super simple — this place is really focused on milmyeon, a true Busan milmyeon spot. Mul-milmyeon (10,000), bibim-milmyeon (10,000), dumplings (7,500), extra noodles (3,000). Prices have crept up a bit compared to before, but the portions are generous, so it doesn't feel too pricey!!

This is a long-loved Seomyeon milmyeon restaurant that's even appeared on TV! This time we ordered mul-milmyeon and dumplings.

Honest review: mul-milmyeon and potato-skin dumplings

The basic side dishes at Seomyeon Milmyeon are simple — radish and pickled radish. Since we ordered dumplings, they also brought soy sauce.

You've got to drink the warm broth before the meal — it's a must. It's clean-tasting but has a rich, slightly gamey depth.

The trick to eating milmyeon well, which I've basically memorized by now: sour, sweet, and spicy is the tastiest combo!

Instructions for how to enjoy milmyeon

My friend and I had walked all around Seomyeon and were so hot that we ordered mul-milmyeon without even thinking twice, haha.

Here's the look of the mul-milmyeon with ice flecked on top. The ice isn't rock solid, so it's the perfect chill to dig into right away!

First, I take a sip of the broth before mixing in the sauce. The cold broth has a different charm from the warm one — cleaner and lighter, with a gamey note that rises up nicely. It's made by boiling beef bones for 72 hours, and the depth of flavor is amazing!

Before really digging into the noodles, eat the egg first — even just the egg with sauce on it is delicious ^.^ The sauce is packed with Seomyeon Milmyeon's signature flavor, a spicy-sour-sweet harmony that gets your appetite going even when you're not hungry.

The hand-torn topping tastes even better dipped in the broth to soak it up.

As usual, I mix it up thoroughly without cutting the noodles. It's not even the large size, just a regular bowl, but the portion is huge. I always leave stuffed!

The noodles are soft yet chewy — great texture. I'm more of a milmyeon person than a naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodle) person because it's not too tough.

I enjoyed the basic flavor as is, then added vinegar and mustard to taste! It's tasty sour and spicy on its own, but adding more vinegar for extra tang works great too~

A plate of chewy potato-skin dumplings

Can't skip the dumplings either. Chewy potato-skin dumplings — really good texture.

Potato-skin dumpling dipped in soy sauce

They're great dipped in soy sauce on their own, too.

Dumpling rolled up with milmyeon noodles

But I recommend rolling them up with the milmyeon noodles and eating them together! Honestly, doing this with bibim-milmyeon is probably the tastiest combo, but it works well with mul-milmyeon too. Next time I'll order one of each and split them in half>_<
