This time I visited a place I found while searching for shabu-shabu spots in Wirye — Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch. Most shabu-shabu restaurants offer unlimited vegetables or side dishes, but here you can even get unlimited beef, which was great. Let's take a look!

Inside Dadam on a quiet weekday morning: window seats over Changgokcheon

The interior of Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch had a clean, modern feel blending green tones with wood. Each table has a partition installed, giving a sense of separation from neighboring tables, and overall the space felt well maintained. Visiting on a weekday morning made it even better since it was quiet.

The edge seats in particular have floor-to-ceiling windows, so you can eat while looking out at Changgokcheon stream. Shabu-shabu itself is a dish that's easy for anyone to enjoy, so it seemed like a good spot for family gatherings or dining out. Baby chairs were also available, making it convenient to visit with kids.

They also offer takeout! One basic broth and two sauces cost ₩3,000, extra meat is ₩3,950 per 100g, and vegetables are ₩1,950 per 100g. Wolnamssam (Vietnamese-style rice paper wraps) requires a lot of different ingredients, which can be a hassle to prepare at home, so it seemed nice to be able to take out as much as you want and enjoy wolnamssam at home.

Plates, utensils, and water are set out to start, and they explained which dish to use for which ingredient. You can choose between two broths, and half-and-half orders are also possible. We chose seafood broth and spicy broth. Being able to try both flavors at once made it easy to pick according to taste.

How many vegetables are on Dadam's self-bar?

View of the self-bar lined with domestically sourced vegetables

This is the self-bar that caught my eye as soon as I walked into Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch. It's noted that the vegetables are domestically sourced, and the owner told us they personally bring them from Garak Market. The vegetables really did look fresh overall, so I was excited even before eating!

There was a really wide variety of vegetables to add to the shabu-shabu. Even counting roughly, there were more than 40 kinds, ranging from mushrooms to greens to noodles.

Beef chuck and beef belly at the self-bar

For meat, beef chuck and beef belly were available. For anyone who loves meat, being able to take as much beef as you want is definitely a plus, haha.

Sauces like peanut sauce, chili sauce, and soy sauce were also available, along with kimchi and cheongyang peppers. And to make fried rice or porridge after finishing the shabu-shabu, rice, eggs, sesame oil, and gim (seaweed) flakes were also provided. There's even a coffee machine and ice cream, so you can finish off with ice cream or an affogato.

Eating the shabu-shabu and wolnamssam (Vietnamese rice paper wraps) in order

Plate piled high with vegetables and beef

I piled my plate high with all my favorite kinds of vegetables. And of course, I brought back plenty of beef too, haha.

Pot of shabu-shabu with vegetables added to boiling broth

After picking whatever I wanted from the self-bar, the broth had started boiling, so we dumped in the vegetables first.

A bite of wolnamssam wrapped with only vegetables

While the vegetables cooked, we started making wolnamssam first. Even without meat, just vegetables alone, it was crunchy and delicious. Combined with the fresh vegetables and the chewy rice paper, it personally reminded me of vegetable dumplings.

The seafood broth had a refreshing, clear seafood-stew kind of feel, while the spicy broth felt like the basic broth with a slightly spicy seasoning added. Once we'd eaten a good amount of vegetables, the broth was boiling hard, so we added the beef in too. Looking at it again, it looks so delicious...!!

The beef chuck was good for eating with a light, clean flavor, while the beef belly had a stronger, savory taste. My favorite combination was picking up a piece of meat with vegetables and dipping it in chili sauce.

Shabu-shabu pot before adding kalguksu noodles

Finishing with kalguksu noodles, porridge and vanilla ice cream

After eating a good amount of the shabu-shabu, we added kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) too. There was also rice noodle available at the self-bar, so you can choose whichever noodle you want. I tried the kalguksu in both the seafood broth and the spicy broth, and it was great being able to enjoy it in different ways.

Kalguksu noodles cooked in both seafood and spicy broths

The kalguksu noodles were chewy and delicious, and eating them together with the beef made them pair even better. I tend to like having meat alongside noodles or porridge too, so it was extra satisfying.

Shabu porridge cooked to finish the meal

To finish, we ended with a hearty bowl of porridge. Choosing both seafood broth and spicy broth meant we could enjoy several different flavors using the same ingredients, from shabu-shabu to noodles to porridge.

Vanilla ice cream brought over for dessert

The real final finish, vanilla ice cream!! My stomach was so full there was nowhere left to put anything, but ice cream is a whole separate stomach, haha. We finished off with vanilla ice cream, and since coffee is also available, you can even have it as an affogato.

Is Dadam Shabu Shabu in Wirye worth it? Final verdict

Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch had a clean, pleasant overall atmosphere, and I loved the wide variety of vegetables that go into the shabu-shabu. Most of all, unlimited beef made it especially satisfying. If you're in Wirye looking for a place for a family meal or a relaxed dinner with friends, this seems worth a visit :)
