Hi everyone 😖 today's post is about Huhugwan, a place I visited for dinner near City Hall Station. I was in the mood for Chinese food and went looking around, ended up here, and ordered the braised pork belly and eggplant rice bowl.

Where is Huhugwan and when is it open?

Huhugwan is on the 2nd floor at 2 Seosomun-ro 11-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul, 93m from Exit 10 of City Hall Station. It's open Mon–Fri 11:00–23:00 with a break time from 16:00–17:00, and closed on weekends. Group dining and reservations are available, there are separate men's and women's restrooms, and there's a waiting area. No parking.

Huhugwan is easy to get to since it's right near City Hall Station. It's in an office worker area, so it's also great for lunch. I think it'd be good for anyone near City Hall Station looking for a simple meal!!

What is the atmosphere like at Huhugwan?

Huhugwan isn't a stuffy, overly formal Chinese restaurant — it's more of a relaxed place to eat. It seemed good for meals with friends, and also for a coworker lunch or dinner gathering.

Chinese liquor and corkage at Huhugwan

Huhugwan has a fairly wide selection of Chinese liquor alongside the food menu, so it seemed like a good place for people who like to drink. Corkage is also allowed, which is nice if you want to bring your own bottle.

There were several review events running at once, which was nice since there were multiple ways to take part.

Dun dun ⭐️⭐️ the look alone had me drooling.

Dongpo pork (braised pork belly), 28,000 won

The first thing we ordered at Huhugwan was the braised pork belly for ₩28,000. That glossy look alone was drool-worthy. You could really taste that signature sweet-and-salty flavor of braised pork belly, and eaten with rice, it kept pulling me back for more.

The pork was so tender and juicy, it basically melted in my mouth 😖😖

It also paired really well with the bok choy.

Eggplant rice bowl, 13,000 won

And this is the one I personally loved — the eggplant rice bowl for ₩13,000! The eggplant blended so well with the sauce that mixing it all together was delicious. The sauce soaked so well into the rice that you didn't even need many side dishes — the whole bowl disappeared fast!

Eggplant has that distinctive soft texture that might be a hit or miss for some, but I loved it. If you like eggplant, I'd especially recommend this rice bowl ❗️😖

Review event: mini menbosha (shrimp toast)

The mini mandu we got from the review event! It was too good to just call it a freebie. Bite-sized and easy to eat, crispy outside and moist inside — really tasty.

Huhugwan was a solid pick whenever I'm craving Chinese food near City Hall Station. The braised pork belly was tender and the eggplant rice bowl had a great rice-and-sauce combo — both were delicious. It's also a good spot for a drink alongside your meal, so I'd recommend it for a dinner visit.
