I had no idea there was a budae jjigae spot in Seongsu, but I found one that piles in an aaaaabsurd amount of sausage.

I've been to Seongsu so many times, but I had no idea there was a great budae jjigae place here...! It's about a minute's walk from Seongsu Station Exit 1, on the second floor of a red building.

  • Mon–Fri 11:00–21:30, last order 20:30
  • Sat–Sun 11:00–21:00, last order 20:00
  • Parking lot in front of the building available
  • Takeout available, 20% off for takeout
  • Group dining, takeout, and delivery available

There was one seriously memorable line: "Even if this place goes under, we will never cut back on the sausage." How much sausage do they even put in...?

Inside Songtan Jindaegwang: a roomy, retro-style dining room

It was a budae jjigae place with a real retro feel.

There are also a ton of long tables, and the restaurant is big, so it seems like a great spot for group gatherings or a company dinner in Seongsu-dong.

Disposable apron and individually wrapped utensil set

The apron is disposable so it's nice and clean, and the utensil set comes individually wrapped in paper, which I liked for the hygiene.

It's budae jjigae, so ramen noodles are absolutely non-negotiable... I wanted to add Spam too, but it was sold out, so I went with assorted sausage instead. A shame.

You set a 5-minute timer and boil it for 5 minutes before eating, I think. The side dishes were fish cake, pickled onion, and green onion salad. The 5 minutes of patience.

Assorted sausage that keeps turning up with every scoop

Adding assorted sausage to the budae jjigae basically turned it into a sausage stew... I really love sausage, but this was so much that I didn't even think about sausage the next day lolllll. Even after stirring it up, there was still so much sausage.

If you love the sausage in budae jjigae, Songtan Jindaegwang Budae Jjigae seems like a choice you won't regret.

Wondering how soju suddenly showed up? Yeah... the moment I had a sip of the budae jjigae broth, there was no way I couldn't order soju. It was so spicy and refreshing that one glass, two glasses, three glasses just kept going down smoothly.

Spicy budae jjigae broth with soju

We each scooped some into our own bowls, and no matter how much we scooped, the sausage just kept coming — half sausage, half broth, ₩9,000 worth of happiness.

These round little sausages were super tasty.

Topped with green onion salad, it was salty-spicy-salty-spicy perfection. Rice refills are unlimited too, so you can mix it into the broth, but we were already full from the sausage alone and didn't even think about a rice refill. They'll add broth and give you a ramen noodle refill too. Ramen noodles with budae jjigae are non-negotiable... absolutely non-negotiable.

We apparently finished it all between the two of us... so, so full. Next time I don't think we'll need to add extra sausage. The portion is already huge.

We also grabbed the complimentary yogurt drink and scooped up a cup of cola-flavored slushie to round off dessert perfectly. When it comes to budae jjigae, it's all about the sausage, and this place packs it in generously enough that you can eat your fill. It's great for lunch or dinner near Seongsu Station, great for group gatherings or company dinners, and honestly even better for a night out drinking.
