Charcoal pork belly, skirt meat and cold noodles: Euljiro Yeontan Gui

Today I've got a super exciting post for you — I just visited a Cheonan Buldang-dong pork restaurant with a legendary atmosphere and unbeatable value!

I fell for it twice: once for that hip, nostalgic old-school diner vibe right from the entrance, and again for the good prices and insane meat quality.

When you think of Buldang-dong, sleek and modern comes to mind, right? But the moment you walk through the door of Euljiro Yeontan Gui, it feels like you've time-traveled straight into an original old-school alley in Seoul's Euljiro!

Round steel tables and the faint scent of charcoal smoke drifting up… gosh, doesn't this scream 'the soju is just going to flow'?! The vibe alone got me hyped before the meat even hit the grill!

Ordering by the 100g, a little of everything

One of the biggest draws here is that you can order by the 100g, which makes it incredibly cost-effective! You can pick a little bit of several different cuts without breaking the bank.

With prices these days, going to a pork restaurant can be scary, but here I could set my wallet worries aside and order freely. For a greedy foodie like me who wants to try every cut, this place is basically heaven!

How were the pork neck and belly?

First up — pork neck and pork belly! The moment the thick, hefty cuts hit the charcoal grill, there was a sizzling sound and the faint charcoal aroma soaked right into the meat! The juices were locked in — crisp outside, tender inside — and every bite burst with flavor!

Meat alone can feel a bit lacking, right? I piled bean sprouts, kimchi and garlic into the steel side dish tray by the grill and let the charcoal heat sizzle them — and this is the real deal! Wrapping a thick slice of pork belly with tangy, spicy grilled kimchi… that's the definitive K-side dish combo, no words needed!

Pork jowl and skirt meat

The pork jowl! That distinctive crunch and savory fattiness was insane! Thanks to the charcoal's heat, the greasiness disappeared and only the savory flavor remained — I couldn't stop reaching for my chopsticks!

The skirt meat too! Chewy yet clean-tasting texture — a work of art! Grilling it over charcoal deepened the flavor so much that even just a dab of salt was perfect. Not telling you I ordered a second round!

You can tell the texture is basically beef, right!? Just don't overcook the skirt meat or it gets tough — cook it just right and it'll put real beef to shame~~

We also grilled up some pineapple properly! I'm someone who loves Hawaiian pizza, so this was right up my alley.

Dessert: cold noodles and bibimbap

For dessert we ordered cold noodles (naengmyeon)! The broth was so refreshingly cold and the noodles so chewy — amazing! You know how eating naengmyeon resets you so you can keep going, right?

We also ordered bibimbap (mixed rice), and this was seriously delicious!! Once you mix it all together, you just keep eating more!

Why it's even better on a rainy day

I visited on a rainy day, and it was even more atmospheric and lovely. Everyone, come here for pork belly and a glass of soju on a rainy day.
