I generally like burgers, but I lean toward handmade ones with thick patties and generous fillings over franchise burgers. This time I ordered the Garlic Boom on its own and the Cheese in the Trap set, choosing fries and zero-calorie cola for the set. The portions were pretty hearty even for two people, so if you're looking for lunch in Maetan-dong, this is a solid choice for a proper meal.

Once inside, the red and white color scheme really stood out — a bit more hip than your typical burger joint. The tables were spaced out comfortably, and the atmosphere didn't feel awkward for eating alone either, so it seemed like a good pick for anyone looking for a solo burger meal in Maetan-dong.

Garlic Boom: the burger to order if you love garlic

First up, the Garlic Boom I picked! The name alone sounds like it's made for garlic lovers haha. Once I got the burger, the thickness was way more obvious from the side than from above. True to a handmade burger, the patty was quite thick, and the bun was packed full of fillings, so it felt hefty the moment I picked it up.

Above all, the Garlic Boom is loaded with plenty of garlic flakes, so every bite hit with a savory garlic punch. If the garlic flavor is too strong, it can sometimes overpower the patty, but here the meat flavor was rich enough to hold its own, and the two balanced each other well. The nutty, slightly salty garlic flavor kept me reaching for more. If you usually like garlic burgers or garlic-heavy menu items, the Garlic Boom is hard to go wrong with.

What does the Cheese in the Trap set taste like?

The other item we ordered was the Cheese in the Trap set. Burgers loaded with cheese can sometimes get a bit greasy, but eating it with the thick patty actually brought out a rich, savory flavor. In particular, 666 Burger's patties aren't thin or forgettable — you really taste the meat itself — so they paired well with a strong ingredient like cheese.

It was thick enough that biting into it in one go was a bit of a challenge, so you have to open wide for this one haha. But that's exactly the fun of eating a handmade burger — the fillings need to be this generous. Even with such a thick patty, it wasn't dry; it stayed juicy, so I could eat it all the way through without feeling weighed down.

Since I ordered the Cheese in the Trap as a set, fries and zero-calorie cola came along with it. 666 Burger's fries aren't the thin, just-crispy type — they have a good amount of thickness to them. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, you could really taste the potato itself.

Since the burgers were so rich in flavor, these no-frills, well-made fries were great to snack on in between bites. Dipped lightly in ketchup, they were the perfect burger side. Sipping the zero-calorie cola alongside helped me finish even the heavier burger cleanly to the end.

Is one burger plus one set enough for two people?
