Omokgyo has basically become my main stomping ground these days haha🤗 I heard everyone around Mokdong heads here first when they're craving gopchang (beef intestine), so I had to check it out myself!!

I visited Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch, the famous waiting-list spot near Omokgyo Station✨
The quality of the gopchang itself was amazing, plump and packed with fat, so this is a restaurant I really want to recommend to anyone looking for a memorable meat/gopchang spot around Mokdong, Omokgyo💗
Where is Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch? Location, interior and side dishes
📍 It's about a 3-minute walk from Omokgyo Station Exit 1, so accessibility is great for this popular, always-busy spot.

With the buzzing crowd and the great weather these days, the place has that perfect vibe for eating out in good spirits.

How long is the wait? CatchTable booking and the self-photo booth inside
Omokgyo Gopchang runs on CatchTable, so online waitlisting is possible⭕️ If you want to check the wait time before heading over, I'd recommend checking in real time. What was unique was that there's a self-photo booth inside the restaurant. It's a nice little event corner to grab a scoop of memories while you wait or on your way out🫶🏻

The interior was way more spacious than I expected. Lots of group tables and good table turnover, so even with a wait, it felt like it cleared fast👍

On a nice-weather day like this, they had all the windows open, so ventilation was great and the whole vibe felt breezy.

As soon as we sat down, a full spread of basic side dishes was set out. The sundubu-jjigae (soft tofu stew) that came as a default side was spicy, rich, and packed with savory depth — great as a drinking snack and it paired really well with the gopchang🤤
Eating two servings of regular beef gopchang with the sides🫶🏻
I ordered two servings of regular beef gopchang, which came almost fully cooked, and the fire show🔥 right after it hit the grill knocked out even the faint gamey smell.

Scallion kimchi gets grilled golden on the pan. It's cool and sharp, so eating it with the gopchang really cut through the richness😲

As soon as it hit the grill, the fat inside sizzled and melted, sending out a nutty aroma. The first bite was chewy with a burst of fat inside, and the nuttiness just kept building the more I chewed.

At Omokgyo Gopchang, the intestines themselves were plump and packed full of fat with no empty spots. Gopchang with empty spots should honestly lose its license to be called gopchang! It was cleaned well with no gamey smell, so even people sensitive to the typical gopchang odor should be able to enjoy it comfortably👍

The best match for gopchang at Omokgyo Gopchang: potato
They grill potato, onion, and chives together on the pan, and each combo tastes amazing, but for me, the potato pairing was the best of all. The potatoes soaked up all the gopchang fat, golden outside and fluffy inside — every bit as good as the gopchang itself.

The longer the gopchang grilled, the crispier the outside got while staying juicy inside, giving a different texture from the first bite — I could keep grilling and eating warm gopchang all the way to the last piece.

Bibim guksu, the palate reset between bites of gopchang
Another dish served alongside the gopchang was 🍜 bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles).

The first bite hit with a tangy-sweet sauce that completely reset my palate. It wasn't too intense, with the sweet and sour balance just right, so it was great to keep eating between bites of gopchang.

Eating gopchang leaves quite a bit of fattiness in your mouth, and this sauce felt like it swept that all away. The noodles were also springy and chewy, going down easily, and the portion was just right — a side dish that's worth every won🤘

Finishing the meal with egg-topped fried rice
And no meal is complete without the fried rice at the end. I really ate a lot... it's lightly seasoned fried rice with beaten egg spread underneath, so what you end up eating is basically egg fried rice!
Pressed down on the grill, it turns into a slightly crispy nurungji (scorched rice) crust on the outside while staying moist inside — the perfect K-dessert-style finish. And thanks to the savory fried rice, I somehow finished off a whole bottle of soju..?

Is Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch good for a company dinner or a date?
On the way out after paying, the owner sweetly handed us a hangover remedy — aww. A date at Omokgyo Gopchang with a shot of soju made for the best Friday night in a long time💗
Omokgyo Gopchang has a spacious interior and good table turnover, so there's no need to worry about a long wait, and the ventilation is good enough that you don't have to worry about smelling like smoke afterward👏 If you're looking for a solid meat restaurant around Mokdong or Omokgyo, I highly recommend Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch. Two big thumbs up!!
