Cheonan Buldang-dong sushi with wasabi on the side: Ganghan Sushi 12P
In short
Ganghan Sushi Cheonan Buldang Branch is a sushi platter restaurant in Buldang-dong, Cheonan, right in front of the city hall. Arriving at 2pm with a sushi-loving child to miss the crowds, the writer ordered two of the basic Ganghan Sushi 12P platters at 14,000 won each, and each one arrived with mini udon, a seafood croquette, miso soup and aged kimchi, so a single order felt like a full course. The best part at Ganghan Sushi was that wasabi comes on the side by default, which made sharing with a kid easy.

We have a sushi-obsessed little one in our house, so we take her out for sushi on a regular rotation. This time, once her sushi cooldown was over, we headed to Ganghan Sushi in Buldang-dong.
Ganghan Sushi Cheonan Buldang Branch is open daily from 11am to 10pm. No break time, no regular closed day — though it's closed Thursday the 24th and Friday the 25th for Chuseok.
Where is Ganghan Sushi Cheonan Buldang Branch, and where do you park?

Ganghan Sushi is located in Buldang-dong, right in front of the district office, so it seems to get a lot of office workers at lunchtime too.

I'd often walked by during meal times and seen every table full, so since there's no break time, I timed our visit for around 2pm when it'd be quieter. They told us the regular Monday closure was actually just removed recently — so now it's a Buldang-dong sushi spot you can enjoy every day.

Parking is self-registered and free for up to 2 hours.

Won the timing game — we were the only table there haha. More customers did trickle in while we were eating, but the interior is clean and cozy, great for a relaxed meal.

They set out cute white-toned dishware, and we waited for our order to arrive.

You can pair your meal with light sides like mini udon (₩1,500) or mini cold udon (₩2,000), and there's also fried tempura and takoyaki to order to taste. We went with the most basic sashimi platter, the Ganghan Sushi 12P.

If you leave a receipt review, you get to pick egg sushi, fried tofu sushi, or a drink for ₩500 — worth doing if you have the time.

Our Ganghan Sushi 12P was made up of jumbo flounder, 7kg superior grade raw salmon, 200kg bluefin tuna, thick raw squid, sweet shrimp with seaweed, 24-hour aged handmade soy sauce shrimp, castella egg sushi, and Japanese-style fried tofu sushi. Ordering a sashimi platter comes standard with mini udon, salad seafood croquette, miso soup, and washed aged kimchi.
One platter, but a full course: what comes with Ganghan Sushi 12P

While the sushi was being made, the seafood croquette and miso soup came out first as appetizers. I was already hungry, so the hearty croquette settled my stomach a bit. Croquettes can get greasy, but with a fresh salad underneath, the combo worked well.

The sushi came out soon after. At a glance, the fish looked fresh and generously thick, so appetizing. Our little one eats a decent amount of sushi, so we ordered two full plates outright.

Wasabi on the side makes Ganghan Sushi easy to eat with a child
I'm oddly fond of that egg sushi — whether it's a conveyor belt place or a sashimi platter restaurant, it's the dish that always makes me happy. Another perk of Ganghan Sushi is that the wasabi comes separately. Since we were eating with our kid, I asked if they could serve it apart, and they said it's always served that way by default.

Tuna and salmon were our little one's favorites. She was starving so she polished them off in a flash. She used to only insist on salmon, but now that she's tried tuna and liked it, her palate is getting pretty refined.

After waiting a bit for the noodles to cook, the udon arrived. They kindly asked in advance if they should leave the chili flakes out of one bowl for the kid — much appreciated. The well-boiled noodles were nicely chewy, and the broth did its job perfectly as a side to the sushi.
Is Ganghan Sushi worth a 2pm visit in Cheonan? Final thoughts

The food honestly didn't look like that much when it first arrived, but by the time we finished, we were completely stuffed. The generous spread, the freshness, and the savory harmony of the fish and rice all satisfied me. If you're looking for a great sushi restaurant in Cheonan, I recommend Ganghan Sushi in Buldang-dong! :)
