A dorky store name, but not-so-dorky sushi sets.
At first the name made me chuckle a bit, but after trying it once, this became a place I keep coming back to whenever I want sushi in Cheonan. It's Ganghan Sushi, in Sinbuldang!
My standard for a good sushi restaurant in Cheonan is that the sushi itself has to be tasty, but the sides that come with it need to be solid too.

In that sense, Ganghan Sushi is personally one of my favorites — not just for the sushi quality but for how substantial the included sides are.
Where is Ganghan Sushi Cheonan Buldang Branch, and how do parking and hours work?
Ganghan Sushi is on the first floor of Sinbuldang First Plaza. You can use the building's basement parking lot. Easy parking is a plus, and with 2 hours of free parking, there's no stress about bringing the car.
📌It used to be closed on Mondays, but I confirmed it's recently been open every day with no regular closing day, so it's more convenient to visit no matter the day of the week.
📌Hours run from 11am to 10pm with no break time — a real find among Cheonan sushi restaurants.

Is there a wait at Ganghan Sushi during weekend peak hours?
The restaurant isn't huge, though, so there's usually a wait during lunch or weekend peak times. This time too, I went during a weekend peak and, sure enough, waited a bit.
Still, since there's no break time, if you visit slightly outside mealtime hours you can get a table smoothly without waiting.

Prices of the three Ganghan Sushi sets
Ganghan Sushi's signature sushi sets are:
- ✔️Ganghan Sushi ₩14,000
- ✔️Ganghan Special Sushi ₩17,000
- ✔️Omakase Sushi ₩23,000
All three come as a 12-piece set.

If you're eating light for lunch, the Ganghan Sushi set is plenty good. But since it was the weekend haha, we went a little fancier and ordered the Ganghan Special Sushi and Omakase Sushi.

What sides come free with every Ganghan Sushi set?
Once you order, the sides come out together — mini udon, seafood croquette with salad, and miso soup are all included as standard.

This mini udon is more substantial than you'd expect. It's packed with fried tofu skin and fish cake, and there's a generous amount of udon noodles too — a really solid freebie side haha.

The tastiest of all is this seafood croquette salad. Freshly fried, still-warm croquette eaten together with cabbage salad is genuinely delicious!!

Ganghan Special Sushi vs Omakase Sushi: what's different?
Ganghan Special Sushi on top, Omakase Sushi below.
The Ganghan Special Sushi is plenty tasty, but the Omakase Sushi clearly uses more upscale ingredients — freshwater eel, gamtae yukhoe (seasoned raw beef wrapped in edible seaweed), steamed abalone, sweet shrimp, and more.
Especially eye-catching was the sweet shrimp sushi topped with 3 shrimp and uni. Of course it can't be just plain shrimp sushi when it's omakase haha.

Both sets included an ankimo (monkfish liver) gunkan, and honestly, the moment I took a bite, that rich savory flavor spread through my mouth — personally, I loved this one.

The steamed abalone sushi wasn't just abalone on top either — it came with abalone innard sauce, so you really got that deep, rich flavor.

Also, the flounder wasn't regular flounder — it was giant flounder sushi. The yukhoe sushi wrapped in gamtae also just melts in your mouth. The Omakase Sushi really does have a different lineup.

Washed aged kimchi served with the white fish sushi
Another thing I love about Ganghan Sushi is that they give you washed aged kimchi (mukeunji) on the side. I like eating aged kimchi with white fish sushi, so I was so happy it came out separately like this. White fish and aged kimchi really do go together👍

Why I keep going back to Ganghan Sushi in Cheonan
Honestly, I have pretty basic taste, so I tend to enjoy sushi at most places haha. But what I like about Ganghan Sushi is the 12-piece set combined with udon, croquette, salad, and miso soup all together, and especially the Omakase Sushi has ingredients that are clearly different from what I usually eat, which makes it fun.

The staff were also kind, which made the meal even more pleasant. If you're looking for a Cheonan sushi restaurant for a clean, satisfying sushi meal, I think Ganghan Sushi is what comes to mind for me.
I haven't tried takeout yet — next time I should see if it tastes the same as eating in-store haha. Ah, I want to eat it again already.
Ganghan Sushi, a Cheonan sushi favorite — the sushi sets are great and the sides are so solid that I keep finding myself coming back💕
