Three frozen pork cuts and fried rice at a Daegu BBQ: Suyeong Naengsam
In short
Suyeong Naengsam Daegu Direct Store is a quick-frozen pork BBQ restaurant on Gukchebosang-ro in Jung-gu, Daegu, running since 1994. Three people visited at 4:30pm on a Friday and shared six servings in all — two each of quick-frozen shaved pork, pork belly and pork neck at 7,900 won per 100g — plus Suyeong fried rice for 2,000 won, refilling the self-serve pickled radish three times. Tasting the three cuts side by side and the well-stocked self-serve bar made Suyeong Naengsam a solid choice for a group dinner.

If you're looking for a great Daegu spot for a Korean BBQ dinner with coworkers on a Friday, I've got just the place. I went to Suyeong Naengsam Daegu Direct Store, which has been around since 1994. Three of us went around 4:30pm on a Friday, and since it was early, we could sit down without any wait. Here's my honest review after trying it myself!

Where is Suyeong Naengsam Daegu Direct Store?

Suyeong Naengsam Daegu Direct Store is a long-running frozen pork belly restaurant that's been open since 1994. I found it while searching for a good Daegu spot for frozen pork belly, and just seeing the old sign gave me a good feeling about it.

Even from outside, the place looked spacious. Baseball is huge right now, and they show every weekday and weekend game — perfect for baseball fans, right?
What is inside Suyeong Naengsam and on the self-serve bar?

There's a big TV where you can watch weekday and weekend sports broadcasts too.

Each table has a round grill, and the tables were plenty roomy, so the three of us could sit comfortably.

Water and wet wipes are self-serve!

There's also a self-serve bar, so you can easily grab extra side dishes as needed. The variety of sides made it even more satisfying. Staff came by periodically to restock the bar, so it stayed clean throughout our meal!

The restroom is in a separate building to the left, outside the restaurant.

The walls were covered in signatures from past visitors, which I thought was neat haha.

The mascots Suyeong-i and Naengsa-mi were so cute!
What three people ordered and what it cost
- Frozen sliced pork 100g ₩7,900
- Frozen pork belly 100g ₩7,900
- Frozen pork neck 100g ₩7,900
- Suyeong fried rice ₩2,000

We ordered two servings each of the frozen sliced pork, frozen pork belly, and frozen pork neck, and added a serving of Suyeong fried rice.

The meat comes out frozen, and the first order starts at 400g, with additional orders available in 200g increments.

Ordering all three cuts at once was great, because we could compare the textures from paper-thin to thick and hearty. The portions were generous enough for the three of us to eat until we were full.
Grilling the quick-frozen shaved pork, belly and neck

The frozen sliced pork was thin, so it curled up and cooked almost instantly on the grill, while the pork neck and belly were thicker and we could take our time grilling them. We also grilled mushrooms, rice cakes, and garlic from the self-serve bar, which added variety to the textures. The owner came by every so often to check our grilling timing and adjust the heat, so even as first-timers we had no trouble.
Side dishes and wrap greens at Suyeong Naengsam

The self-serve bar had lettuce, perilla leaves, rice cakes, mushrooms, chili peppers and more, so it was fun to build our own combinations. Wrapping a piece of meat with garlic and ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste) in a perilla leaf made for a hearty bite. We ended up refilling the jaeraegi (young radish kimchi) three times!
Finishing with 2,000-won Suyeong fried rice

After finishing all the meat, we fried up the Suyeong fried rice right there on the grill. With dried seaweed flakes and aged kimchi mixed in, it was the perfect way to wrap up the meal.
Is Suyeong Naengsam worth it for a group dinner in Daegu?

In short, Suyeong Naengsam Daegu Direct Store stood out among Daegu's frozen pork belly restaurants for its well-stocked self-serve bar and the owner's attentive service, which made for a satisfying dinner. Being able to try the frozen sliced pork, belly, and neck all in one sitting was this place's own special charm. If you're looking for a good Daegu spot for frozen pork belly for a weekday evening work dinner, this one is worth checking out.
