Sometimes you crave thin frozen pork rather than thick pork belly, right? That was exactly what we wanted that day, so my husband, child, and I went to Suyeong Naengsam Daegu Direct Store. It is close to Jungangno Station and was a good place to eat meat with a child, too.
Location and parking at Suyeong Naengsam Daegu Direct Store near Jungangno Station

Suyeong Naengsam Daegu Direct Store is near Jungangno Station, so it was in a great spot for a meal after spending time in Dongseong-ro.
There is parking in front of the restaurant, but it is not particularly spacious—room for about four cars. We parked elsewhere and walked over. Since it is close to Jungangno Station, visiting without a car actually seemed more convenient.
An interior where you can watch baseball, too

The restaurant was packed with people having frozen pork! I snapped these atmosphere shots in a brief gap when no one was in the frame.
Suyeong Naengsam, whose main branch is in Busan! Besides Busan, it has locations in Incheon, Daejeon, and Ulsan, and the Daegu location is run as a directly managed store.
There is also a large TV here, so you can watch baseball. There happened to be a Samsung–LG game on the day we visited ⚾ Being able to watch baseball while grilling meat made dinner even more fun.
Napkins and aprons were set out along the wall.
From quick-frozen thin-sliced pork to noodles: the menu

As you would expect from a frozen pork specialist, the meat options included quick-frozen thin-sliced pork, pork belly, pork neck, and hangjeong-bbolsal (pork jowl and collar meat), plus stews, fried rice, and noodle sides. Suyeong Naengsam's quick-frozen thin-sliced pork is introduced as the quick-frozen pork that Psy ate for 20 minutes at Seocho Galbi in Busan, and they say they use pork supplied by Seocho Galbi.
Basic side dishes and the self-service bar

The basic sides were jaeraegi (seasoned fresh vegetable salad), kimchi, and pa-kimchi (green onion kimchi), along with pepper and salt to sprinkle on the frozen pork while grilling.
A self-service bar was set up on one side of the restaurant.

The self-service bar had eggplant, potatoes, mushrooms, and more to grill with the meat, so we could take as many sides as we wanted. There were even sides that did not come with the basic table setting, so once you order your meat, head straight to the self-service bar!
Trying the quick-frozen thin-sliced pork and pork belly
It was our first visit to Suyeong Naengsam, so on a staff member's recommendation, we ordered two servings each of quick-frozen thin-sliced pork and quick-frozen pork belly—a total of four servings. (In the end, we added two more servings of the thin-sliced pork, haha.)

I had only ever seen thin-sliced pork spread out in flat squares, but here it came rolled into circles, which was a little fascinating from the moment I saw it. I also loved that the thin slices cooked so quickly once they hit the grill.
Because the meat was thin, it definitely cooked fast. We did not have to wait ages for it to cook through like thick pork belly; we could put it on the grill and eat it soon after, which made it easy with a child, too. And maybe because frozen pork is thin, I felt that pork's distinctive nutty flavor came through even better.

Especially with the pa-kimchi—an absolute game changer!!! The slightly pungent, lightly sweet green onion kimchi was so good with pork belly that I kept eating them together.
Our child seemed to find the thin meat easier to eat than thick cuts and ate much better than I expected.
The quick-frozen pork belly was not much thicker than the thin-sliced pork, just a little thicker, which gave it a nicer texture.
The rolled thin-sliced pork belly came out in circles; take a big bite without cutting it, and you can really enjoy that soft pork-belly flavor filling your mouth.

We also grilled the eggplant and mushrooms we brought from the self-service bar, but I especially liked the potatoes.

When you put the thin potato slices onto the pork fat left after grilling the meat, they turn crisp outside and soft inside, making them perfect to eat between bites of meat.

Rather than eating the quick-frozen thin-sliced pork on its own, I think it goes even better when you grill kimchi or vegetables alongside it so they soak up the meat fat. We grilled eggplant, potatoes, and mushrooms that day, and it was fun putting different things on the grill however we liked.

Our child likes noodles, so we also ordered one warm janchi-guksu (banquet noodle soup). It was hot and comforting, and easy to slurp down with the pork belly.
We watched baseball while eating, our child ate the thin-sliced pork so well, and so we ended up ordering two additional servings of quick-frozen thin-sliced pork! Haha.

And if you join the receipt review event, you get a whopping 100 g of pork neck for free!! Do not miss it, haha.

It was good for eating with a child, and watching baseball while having meat was fun, so we had a relaxed dinner. If you are looking for frozen pork in Gyodong, Suyeong Naengsam Daegu Direct Store could be worth a visit :)
