A Songdo ocean-view restaurant for an afternoon half-day off
I visited Plan A Restaurant (플랜에이레스토랑), a lovely ocean-view restaurant in Songdo. I was deciding where to go on an afternoon half-day off, and chose Plan A because so many reviews said it had both atmosphere and great food. The clean, modern interior caught my eye the moment I stepped through the door~ The tables were nicely spaced too, making conversation easy, and I thought it would be perfect for a date or a quiet get-together.

From burrata cheese salad to pilaf
After giving the menu lots of thought, I chose the burrata cheese salad, beef pilaf, and truffle aglio e olio. I had high expectations—the combination of three dishes sounded wonderfully varied.

I also ordered an essential fizzy drink, Zero Coke~ Served in a Big Wave branded cup, it somehow felt even tastier.

The complimentary pickles! Pickles are a must with Western food, of course~

Burrata cheese salad that made a great appetizer
The burrata cheese salad arrived first. It was a real eye-catcher from the start. A large, fresh burrata sat at one end, alongside vibrant green vegetables, tomatoes, cheese, bread, and a dressing to add a fresh tang!
When I lightly cut into the top of the burrata with a knife, its soft, creamy center flowed out beautifully. Just seeing that was enough to make it feel like I had already eaten with my eyes. I tucked vegetables and cheese into the bread for bite-sized portions, and it was almost like having little sandwiches—so good.
The vegetables had a crisp bite with none of that raw grassy taste, while the tomatoes burst with juice and paired beautifully with the sweet-tart sauce. Above all, the burrata's distinctive flavor was a work of art. It was not overpowering, yet it brought out the ingredients' freshness and nuttiness to the fullest. Could there be a more perfect appetizer before the main meal?

The beef pilaf and truffle aglio e olio I ordered arrived too~

Aglio e olio with a deep truffle aroma
After gently waking up my appetite with the salad, the main pasta appeared: truffle aglio e olio. A subtle, luxurious truffle aroma spread across the table. It did not smell artificial; its deep, lingering character had my anticipation for the taste at its peak before I had even started eating.
The moment I twirled the perfectly cooked pasta around my fork and took a bite, I thought, ah, this is truffle. The garlic and olive oil—the essential foundation of aglio e olio—were beautifully balanced, and the added truffle oil gave the flavor a completely different depth. It lacked the heaviness or greasiness often associated with oil pasta. Instead, the sharp fragrance and abundant flavor of garlic mingled with nuttiness for a clean yet deeply savory finish.

Beef pilaf with smoky flavor and fluffy grains
For something filling alongside the pasta, I chose the beef pilaf! It arrived with a rich, nutty aroma. The wide plate was generously filled with fluffy, well-fried rice and large pieces of beef, topped with ingredients and cheese for extra nuttiness.
With a big spoonful, I found a gentle smoky flavor running through it, while every grain of rice retained the fluffy, separate texture of a fine coating. Pilaf can easily turn soggy or become unpleasantly greasy when it is not cooked well, but Plan A's beef pilaf had none of those flaws—it was clean-tasting and full of umami. The generous chunks of beef among the rice made it even more enjoyable to chew. The portion was plentiful too, and I thought it would be hard to find a better dish for a truly filling meal.
The combination of burrata cheese salad, truffle aglio e olio, and beef pilaf at Plan A in Songdo was perfection itself! I would love to come back next time and try the other dishes too.
