Outdoor terrace café in Sutonggol, Daejeon: Luonto einspänner & ice
In short
Luonto Sutonggol Branch is a three-story rooftop café in Sutonggol, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. The writer ordered cinnamon chimney bread, an einspänner, and Shanghai Ranch ice cream to enjoy on the second-floor outdoor terrace, and the landscaped terrace and distinct floor-by-floor spaces stood out. Recommended as a stop after a Sutonggol outing, or even for first birthday (doljanchi) and 100-day celebrations.

Getting there and parking at Luonto Sutonggol Branch

If you're driving, there's a large parking lot right in front of the store, so you can park there.
If you're taking public transit, it's about a 9-minute walk from Sutonggol Terminal bus stop.
I arrived at Luonto Sutonggol Branch, and it turned out to be a large three-story café. Let's go inside.
Floors 1 to 3: the interior and design
The café is made up of floors 1 through 3.
1st floor — ordering area and tables

The 1st floor has the ordering area and tables where you can enjoy your coffee. There were a lot of families and groups there.

The exposed-concrete interior with clean tables and floor-to-ceiling windows felt sophisticated yet full of character. The lighting adds to the upscale mood too.
2nd floor — the prettiest space, also used for first-birthday parties
This is the 2nd floor of Luonto café. I thought the 2nd floor was the prettiest — a spacious, beautiful area opens up.
The tables on the 2nd floor had such great atmosphere and mood. It felt healing just to look at it. Each table has its own distinct charm and style.
Luonto Sutonggol Branch is often chosen as a venue for 100-day celebrations (baegiljanchi) and first-birthday parties (doljanchi) — and on the day I visited, there was actually a family celebrating a doljanchi there. Having a first birthday party in such a gorgeous space must be so memorable.
The café's interior design is done so beautifully that just being in the space felt healing.
3rd floor — a private gathering space
The 3rd floor is a private space that would be great for group gatherings.
What's the outdoor terrace like?
This is the 2nd-floor outdoor terrace — pretty amazing, right? It'd be gorgeous for an outdoor wedding. If I remarried, I'd want to do it here.

On a nice cool day like this, enjoying a drink and delicious bakery items on the outdoor terrace seat feels like paradise on earth.

The landscaping in the outdoor terrace was so well done it felt like being in a utopia — who knew Daejeon had a space this beautiful.
The terrace on the 3rd floor is private too, and gorgeous. Coming at night when the lights are on must give a whole different vibe.
Drink & bakery menu
Here's the Luonto café menu. Café Luonto is a premium roastery serving top-grade beans they roast themselves, with a choice of Luonto Blend, Geisha Blend, or Decaf Blend.

On the 1st floor they brew coffee from beans roasted right there in-house, and the beans are also sold, so you can try them and buy some if you like.

This is Luonto Sutonggol Branch's signature bakery item, chimney bread. The dough is put directly into a mold and baked, and since it's made fresh to order, it takes about 10 to 15 minutes. The smell of fresh baking fills the store — impossible to resist ordering one.

The store also sells lighting and tumblers — really pretty ones too.

You order drinks at the kiosk on the 1st floor.
How was the cinnamon chimney bread, einspänner, and Shanghai Ranch ice cream?
Cinnamon chimney bread, coffee, and ice cream all together — the perfect spread, right?
The cinnamon chimney bread comes with whipped cream, and the fluffy cream on top of the einspänner looks just like a cloud. Just thinking about eating my favorite Shanghai Ranch ice cream on top of it all made me happy already.
You're supposed to eat the cinnamon chimney bread with the paper glove they give you, dipping it in the whipped cream. Since it's fresh out of the oven, it's warm, crispy on the outside and moist inside, and the cinnamon powder dusted on the surface makes it nutty and clean-tasting — so good.
The Shanghai Ranch ice cream has a milky, sweet flavor — a life-changing ice cream. It's so sweet that the moment you taste it, you just feel happy.
If you come to Luonto Sutonggol Branch, I recommend this einspänner too. The cream on top has such charming flavor.
