Eating alone at a Dongnae, Busan sushi restaurant: Moshi Moshi 10P set

I was craving really good sushi, so I went to check out Moshi Moshi at Lotte Department Store Dongnae Branch, a place I'd heard about by word of mouth. Located inside the department store, it was neat and clean, and super accessible too — this is my honest review of Moshi Moshi, the sushi spot near Myeongnyun Station!

Where is Moshi Moshi Sushi Dongnae, and what are its hours?

Moshi Moshi Sushi, Lotte Department Store Dongnae Branch is located at 1393 Jungang-daero, Dongnae-gu, Busan, on the 8th floor of Lotte Department Store Dongnae Branch. Hours are 10:30–20:30, with no separate break time — they're closed only on department store holidays.

It's on the 8th floor of Lotte Department Store Dongnae Branch. If you're coming up the escalator, turn left after getting off and it's easy to find. I turned right and wandered a full loop before finding it. Right from the entrance there were delicious-looking food photos hanging up...

Totally mouthwatering — it got me even more excited. And then the menu boards visible right from the entrance!

Can a solo diner sit at the counter at Moshi Moshi Sushi?

Inside, Moshi Moshi Sushi Dongnae Branch has 2/4/6-person tables and tables divided by partitions. I visited alone and tried to sit at the bar seats, but I was told that spot wasn't available, which was a bit awkward.

Since I came alone, I tried to sit at those bar seats, but was told that wasn't allowed — a little embarrassing haha. Quicker seating guidance would be nice. The interior had 2/4/6-person tables, and

there were also tables separated by partitions.

They also had high chairs, so it seemed like a good spot to come with a baby while shopping at the department store and craving sushi. Each table was neatly set with utensils, wet wipes, and water cups.

And you order via the kiosk at each table.

I ordered just one flounder & salmon sushi (10 pieces + tempura) for ₩27,500. There's also an origin-labeling sign posted in the store for reference.

What comes with the 27,500-won flounder & salmon sushi?

The flounder & salmon sushi arrived about 15 minutes after ordering, and came with 10 pieces of sushi, miso soup, two kinds of salad (vegetable and tofu), and shrimp, sweet pumpkin, and sweet potato tempura. Really generous for a solo meal.

Here's what I got after about a 15-minute wait!

Miso soup, two kinds of salad — tofu and vegetable — and tempura of shrimp, sweet pumpkin, and sweet potato: a really rich spread. Especially this tofu salad!

The firm tofu was perfect as an appetizer. The salad and tofu salad were so good I thought they should just be served before the sushi every time. The tempura looked golden and appetizing too.

First, 5 pieces each of flounder and salmon. The flounder even came with the fin!

I really love flounder fin, so giving it to me was such a thoughtful touch. First, the salmon I'd been craving!

Salmon sushi

The deep red salmon was thick and generously portioned, and the moment I bit in, that signature rich, savory fattiness of salmon came through. I love both salmon and flounder, but it had been a while since I'd had salmon, so I was really craving it. This place passed as a genuine salmon destination! Delicious dipped in soy sauce, and also great topped with the tartar sauce and onion that came alongside — really good salmon sushi.

Next up, my personal favorite: flounder!

Flounder is a common fish, but did you know that the texture being firm and chewy, and the flavor deep, is exactly what makes it good? I personally judge a sushi restaurant by its flounder. Even at expensive hotel buffets, the flounder is sometimes disappointing, so I've come to believe that a place with delicious flounder = a genuinely good sushi restaurant. At Moshi Moshi, the flounder was chewy and delicious, and don't even get me started on the fin — it was the best part. Absolutely top-tier.

Three kinds of tempura

Lastly, the tempura!

Shrimp, sweet pumpkin, and sweet potato — three kinds, and every single one was golden and fried to perfection. Getting to finish off with crispy tempura was such a nice touch.

From the deep flavor of the main sushi to the generous side dishes, I ate a hearty, satisfying meal here at Moshi Moshi, a favorite near Lotte Cinema in Dongnae, Busan!

• Thick, generous flounder and salmon sushi, freshly fried tempura, and two hearty salads (tofu and vegetable)
• Clean, comfortable dining environment thanks to the 8th-floor department store location and an excellent hygiene rating
• Bar seating isn't available for solo diners, worth noting — a bit faster seating guidance would help
