Steak ragù & abalone gue cream pasta lunch in Seo-gu: Plate Dunsan
In short
Plate Dunsan Branch is an Italian restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building behind Galleria in Seo-gu, Daejeon. Visiting for lunch without a reservation, the writer ordered the steak cream ragù pasta with noodle No. 5 and the abalone gue cream pasta with noodle No. 4, finding whole abalone and generous, tender steak well worth the price. The bright, sunlit interior even made it a candidate for a wedding invitation gathering.

The weather's finally loosened up so there's a cool breeze in the mornings and evenings haha. Is fall finally coming..!!!
With the nicer weather and a good mood, I wanted to get a little atmosphere going with my big potato (boyfriend) so I went looking for a nice-vibe Italian restaurant and found "Plate"! I'd been to the Plate in Seonhwa-dong before with friends, and it turns out there's now a Dunsan branch!! I remembered it being delicious, so I decided to try the Dunsan location!
Location and parking at Plate Dunsan Branch
It's located right behind Galleria! We had errands at Galleria so we parked there, but Plate also has building basement parking available!
Exterior

Come up to the 2nd floor of the building and Plate is right there haha.
Lunchtime atmosphere inside — could this work for a wedding invite gathering?

A clean, tidy vibe at Plate! We visited during lunch and the sunlight was pouring in, making it feel bright and lovely haha. We came without a reservation, and looking around for a seat, I noticed a lot of the tables were already reserved! Seems like a popular spot haha.
We're about to start having wedding invitation gatherings soon, and I liked this place enough that I thought it could actually work for one haha.

On one side of the restaurant there's a fridge storing the meats used in the steaks and pastas haha. The meat looked really good quality, like anything made with it would taste great haha.
Menu and how to order — how do you pick a noodle number?

Plate has pizza and steak as well as pasta! There's a set menu too, and looking back now, I really should have ordered it!!! Pre-meal bread, salad, and soup, all at a low price!!! Next time, definitely the set menu haha.
Also, Plate apparently uses its own house-made fresh noodles and pizza dough! Fresh noodle pasta, huh haha. Can't wait!!!
How to order at Plate!!
- First! Look at the menu board and choose your set menu, pasta type, side dishes, drinks, and so on.
- Second! Choose your pasta noodles. Pick between fresh or dried noodles, then choose one of several numbered noodles based on width and thickness. That's it, order done!!

We ordered the steak cream ragù pasta and the abalone gue cream pasta, picking noodle No. 5 and No. 4 respectively haha.
Abalone gue cream pasta — whole abalone with noodle No. 4
Our ordered dishes!! The food came out faster than I expected.

First out was the abalone gue cream pasta!! A pasta where abalone innards mix into the cream sauce for a savory flavor!
The price wasn't especially high so I didn't expect much, but whole abalone was sitting right on top of the pasta!!
I'd actually been craving butter-grilled abalone lately, and there were two or three whole abalones in there, so I got some vicarious satisfaction haha. The abalone was also really tender and delicious haha.

I chose noodle No. 4. No. 5 was recommended, but I thought something closer to kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) width rather than a wide noodle would suit me better, so I went with No. 4, and it paired perfectly with the cream sauce!! A very good choice haha.
Steak cream ragù pasta — noodle No. 5 and tender meat

Next up was the steak ragù pasta!! It was one of the dishes I hesitated over, but my big potato said flatly, this is what he wanted to eat haha. We really do click well haha.

As the name suggests, the steak ragù pasta has steak sitting right on top of the noodles! I was a little worried it might be tough, but it was seriously so, so tender!!!
There was also plenty of meat on top, enough that I thought, wow, this is a real steal at this price!!

I chose noodle No. 5 for the steak ragù pasta. No. 5 is wider than No. 4, so the cream sauce clung generously to the noodles and you could really taste the pasta fully in each bite! There was plenty of minced meat in the sauce too, so if you want to get sauce, minced meat, and noodles all in one bite, I'd recommend going with No. 5!
Wrap-up
Plate, the new restaurant in Dunsan-dong!! I've been scoping out restaurants for our upcoming wedding invitation gatherings, and with its great atmosphere and great food, I think this place is a perfect fit for one! It's also great for dates and family meals! If you're looking for a good Italian restaurant in Dunsan-dong, I highly recommend Plate.
