Dunsan-dong rooftop restaurant with kids: aglio olio, Someday Romance

Hi, this is the Huni-Mini family! After enjoying a science magic show with the kids, we stopped by Someday Romance in the nearby Save Zone building for pizza — Huni's favorite! This place has such an exotic vibe: the interior and overall atmosphere feels like a Southeast Asian beach, while the food feels like Italy's inland countryside. Such a unique combination! Let me introduce it to you.

Where is Someday Romance, and where do you park?

Someday Romance is located on the 6th floor of Save Zone in Dunsan-dong, Daejeon! I used to hang out around Save Zone a lot back in college, and even after all this time it hasn't changed a bit — haha.

Someday Romance occupies the entire 6th floor like this. Parking is convenient too since you can just use the underground parking lot!

Parking is supported for 3 hours. There's a parking settlement zone near the return area with a tablet PC where you can pay directly!

The 6th floor entrance: a resort-like rooftop setting

As soon as you step off the elevator on the 6th floor, a little toy soldier greets you — Huni recognized it right away as the toy soldier from The Nutcracker and got so excited, haha. There are also guidelines posted at the entrance that we read through carefully.

The moment you walk in, it feels like stepping into another world entirely — such an exotic atmosphere. Our Huni-Mini were thrilled to see such a unique space, and even crossing the little stone bridge was so fun for them that they couldn't stop laughing as soon as we walked in.

Right in the center of the outdoor space, water flows and a small stone bridge has been built, with Southeast Asian-style entrance pillars at each end of the bridge, creating a distinctive atmosphere.

You can enjoy meals or drinks outdoors too — there are dome-shaped structures where you can have a private meal inside the dome.

There's also a spot with a bar-table feel and group seating for larger parties! Every corner has its own distinct atmosphere, so it's really fun just looking around, haha.

After roughly checking out the outdoor area, we head into the interior of Someday Romance. Before going in, we noticed a weekday opening-run event offering a free americano, soda, or tea — if you have the time, be sure to join in!

The interior is even more impressive. The plant decor, lighting, and divided spaces scattered throughout are all so unique!

The distinctive interior in every corner was so pretty I couldn't stop clicking my shutter... Water trickles gently through the center too. It feels open overall, but private little spaces are tucked away here and there — perfect for a date!

How it works: high chairs, kiosk ordering and the self-service bar

There are baby chairs, cake, and even a microwave available for little guests.

You order via kiosk, remember the number that comes up, and go pick up your food when it's called! It's a self-service system where you return your tray to the return zone once you're done eating.

This is the self-service zone next to the pickup area, with utensils, forks, plates, kkakdugi (radish kimchi), pickles, aprons, napkins, and more.

Someday Romance menu and what we ordered

We took our seats and ordered. Since the kids loved the outdoor space so much, we picked a table with a low, kid-friendly height so they could play nearby.

Here's the menu! It boasts a variety of dishes including pasta, pizza, salads, desserts, and drinks. We ordered the gorgonzola pizza Huni loves, the aglio olio I love, and the bulgogi risotto that Huni's dad picked.

Each table comes with a tray set up with forks, spoons, napkins, and more for four people.

Ta-da, the food arrived! Haha, doesn't it look so delicious!!!!

Gorgonzola pizza

The gorgonzola pizza had an impressive braided crust! The moment it was set down, the cheese aroma wafted up so strongly that I instinctively knew — this can't not be delicious, haha.

Aglio olio: how spicy is it?

An aglio olio bursting with olive oil and garlic flavor. The crispness of the sprouts on top, plus the shrimp and cherry tomatoes, paired so well that every single bite was heavenly, haha.

Bulgogi risotto

This one's a risotto topped with green onions — I was worried the kids might not eat the green onions, but surprisingly they ate the risotto down to every last bit of green onion. The sweetness of the bulgogi soaked nicely into the cream sauce, making it richly delicious.

We enjoyed it all together with the passionfruit ade that came alongside.

The pizza's cheese was so fresh-tasting the aroma was incredible!? Dipping the slightly browned cheese into honey was pure bliss, haha. And the thin crust had crispy edges, so it was delicious all the way to the last bite!

The kids ate so well they polished off two slices each in no time.

This is the aglio olio I really enjoyed! It's savory yet spicy, and genuinely delicious. Anyone getting pasta here, you have to try this one!

You can see how softly the noodles glisten, right? The sauce is packed with minced and sliced garlic, infused with olive oil aroma that smells amazing. It's savory but has everything going on all at once!? The shrimp was plump and springy too, pairing perfectly with the sauce, haha.

This bulgogi risotto is also a dish I'd recommend to anyone visiting with kids. The bulgogi is a hit with children right off the bat, and the cream sauce isn't too rich, so kids can enjoy it easily.

Eating outdoors with the kids chatting away felt just like a little getaway — such a nice feeling, haha. And enjoying this kind of atmosphere is something only Someday Romance can offer!

We finished our meal in no time at all, haha. The kids had pizza, I had pasta, and Huni-Mini's dad had a bit of everything, haha — we all enjoyed it thoroughly. Both the food and the atmosphere were completely satisfying at Someday Romance!

Verdict: why Someday Romance works with kids

It felt like a little healing escape in the middle of the city. The exotic scenery we got to experience for a while, plus the delicious food — but most of all, I loved the outdoor space the kids enjoyed so much! I'm always anxious about whether keeping kids in a cramped indoor space might bother other people, but here there's no need to worry about that at all, and the environment is full of things to catch kids' interest, which was such a huge plus for me!

And that spicy aglio olio! It was so delicious I'll definitely order it again next time, haha. I'm wrapping up this post hoping everyone gets to try Someday Romance's aglio olio!
